323: Micah 5:2c

365 Prophecies: Prophecy 323

The Messiah will be the Eternal God, Creator of the universe.

Old Testament Prediction:

Micah 5:2c “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

New Testament Fulfillment:

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

Colossians 1:16-17 For by Jesus all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

The prophet Micah predicts the coming Messiah will arrive at Bethlehem, originating out of eternity, from everlasting. He will not be merely a man, a great teacher, or religious leader, He will be the eternal God who created all things.

In John 8:58 (above), Jesus told the Pharisees that before Abraham was born, He had existed as “I AM.” This phrase is formed from two Greek words: ego eimi, The word ego is used for emphasis, as an emphatic statement that He is in antithesis to all other men. The word eimi, a statement of existence in eternity, the present, and forever—having no beginning or first cause.[1]

Jesus calls Himself by the eternal name for God, I AM—the same name that God identified Himself by, when He spoke to Moses, in the Book of Exodus.

Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

I Am—the Self-existent One, the Eternal, the One who always has been and always will be. This is the shortened version of the equivalent word Jehovah (Yahweh), the Eternal.

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Jesus was born as a baby on the earth; but before He entered time as an infant, He existed eternally as God. As a toddler, Jesus learned how to walk; yet in eternity, He walked the streets of Heaven as the Eternal God. Jesus learned His first words at about two years of age; but before the universe came into existence, Jesus simply spoke and all the elements that would expand into the universe, came into being.

How is it possible that this Great God should be willing to pay the penalty for our sins and die? Although He had done nothing wrong Himself, yet He allowed sinful men to torture and brutalize Him. He submitted His life to those who hated Him and allowed them to pierced His hands and feet with great spikes. A Roman soldier thrust a spear into His side. Violent men yanked out handfuls of His beard. People spit in His face, mocked Him, and ridiculed Him. The soldiers stripped Him of His clothing and hung him naked before the whole world.

All this, Jesus did, simply because He loves us.

I don’t understand this kind of love, because I have never seen it displayed by any other human being. I know myself, and I am completely aware that I am not worth the great sacrifice that Jesus has made to save me.

Despite my complete unworthiness, He did it all for me anyway; and may I say—He did it also for you….

In order to understand why Jesus would be willing to die for us, we must first try to understand who He is. Micah’s prophecy describes the Messiah who will die for us and who has come out of eternity, with no beginning, and is the agent and source of all that exists in the universe.

The argument that there is no proof for the existence of God is irrational. In fact, there is no reasonable explanation for the universe or life itself apart from God. The question that has been rightly asked is: “Why is there a universe at all?”

Since everything that exists has an explanation for its existence, there is a reason that the universe exists. Since all things that are temporal have a first cause and the universe came into being at some point, then the universe has a first cause. Since it is impossible for anything to cause by itself, therefore, the universe is caused by a power that is transcendent of time and space. By the complexity, balance, and design of the universe, we perceive that all things in existence were caused by an infinite intelligence—an intelligence which is without limits and is perfect, knowing all things. Only a perfect and eternal being would have the capacity to create such a universe. I personally do not understand why it is so hard for people to accept that God exists and that He is the most logical explanation for the existence of the universe, the earth, and human life.

We call this being “God,” and it is He that the Bible reveals.

We understand that there are two types of things that exist.

Things that exist by necessity.
Things which are caused.

A good example of something that exists by necessity are mathematical entities. They are not caused to exist by anything else; they exist on their own by necessity.

Those things that exist because they were caused do not need to exist. They come into being because an intelligence wills that they exist. The error of evolution is that intelligence came from an unintelligent source. Even the most basic of cells have within them an amazing array of intelligent functioning machinery that allows them to be useful. The height of foolishness is to imagine that the human mind could have originated from inanimate, non-intelligent happenstance. Does anyone really imagine that the microprocessors that enable today’s computers to function came about by random mutations or chance arrangements of atoms? How much more should we understand that the human mind is qualitatively beyond the limits or capacity of any human to manufacture such a complex system of near unlimited computations, yet some say that it “evolved?”

How did God make the universe?

In the beginning there was nothing. The universe did not exist. There were no planets, no stars, not even empty space. Imagine all the matter that makes up the universe, tightly compressed into a particle that is nearly invisible. Scientists believe that it was from a tiny, densely compressed speck of material, that everything that we see today originated from.[2]

At zero linear time, this speck of material exploded and expanded at hundreds of millions of miles per hour. This was an incomprehensible sphere of energy that was dense and compact beyond imagination. The temperature of the initial flash of energy was trillions of degrees. It was a mass of pure plasma expanding at the Speed of Light.[3]

Everything that would exist in our present universe would come from this initial material—the planets, the stars, every living thing, even time and space itself—all things were created at that moment.

According to the Bible:

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The Hebrew word for “created” is Bara—to make from nothing.[4] According to the words of God, He created everything that exists in the universe from nothing, in single event.

Science calls this singularity, “the Big Bang.” This entire theory came about as a result of Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity. In this theory, Einstein established that in the physical sciences, nothing is absolute. Everything was relative to everything else.

Time is relative to speed. Speed is relative to gravity. In Physics, a concept called “Time Dilation.”[5]

The common illustration that is used to explain Time Dilation is by using two twins: One stays on earth; the other travels through space in a ship moving at near the speed of light as it approaches a distant star.[6]

For this twin flying through space, the journey will last about one year. The twin who remained on the earth will experience a period of time lasting twenty years. The twin who is traveling at near the speed of light will experience time passing more slowly than the twin remaining on earth.

It is important to understand that the clock that is on the spaceship did not run slower. Time itself did not take longer to pass. What occurred was less time actually elapsed for the twin flying through space.

For an object at rest, time passes in the same manner that everyone on earth is accustomed to. As an object begins to accelerate and its speed approaches the speed of light, the amount of time that passes decreases.[7]

This passage of time relative to speed as it slows down time dramatically is called “Time Dilation.”

The following is a practical illustration of the principle of Time Dilation:

We will be looking at a theoretical starship that will be on a mission to explore the edge of our Milky Way galaxy. Most scientists today believe that at this location, there is a super massive “Black Hole.” This Black Hole at the edge of our Galaxy was once a star with a mass estimated to be some 2.5 million times that of our own Sun. When this star completed its life and began to collapse back onto itself, all of its mass began to condense down into a tiny grain of super condensed material of near-infinite density. Scientists refer to this event as “A Singularity.”[8]

The gravitational force that this infinitely compressed speck the size of a grain of sand exerts is so powerful, that nothing, not even light, can escape. This is why this phenomenon is referred to as “A Black Hole.”

The commander of the starship has dispatched a survey ship to the edge of the black hole. As the ship approached the event horizon—the edge of the black hole—the commander of the star ship watches the crew of the survey ship near the black hole on their monitor. The crew near the black hole look as though their movements are in slow motion. Back on the star ship, everything is moving normally.[9]

The officer of the survey ship logs these strange observations into the ship’s computer and then takes the ship back to the coordinates where they expect to find the parent starship. The only problem is that the starship has disappeared. The survey craft officer hails another star ship that is passing nearby. As the accounts of the survey to the edge of the black hole are recorded on the ship that came to rescue to survey ship, they realize that in the one hour that they were at the edge of the black hole, thousands of years have passed for those who came to answer their distress call.[10]

These are the results of Time Dilation—the effects of increased gravity, slowing the passage of time. Because gravity at the edge of the black hole was so massive, thousands of years passed in just one hour. This operates in much the same way that greatly increased speed also substantially affects the passage of time.

An object at zero gravity or a very low gravity environment, time passes in a normal manner as it does for all of us here on earth.

As the force of gravity on any object increases, the passage of time slows down. In this way, time is not fixed or constant. Time and the passage of time are affected by the speed that an object is traveling through space as well as the amount of gravitational force that is exerted on the object.

The greater the speed, the greater the force of gravity, the slower the passage of time.

Another phenomenon that affects the passage of time is the stretching of space. As was previously mentioned, at the moment the Big Bang occurred, all that exists in the universe was compressed into a tiny speck the size of a grain of sand or smaller. As the universe continues to expand, galaxies formed; and the distance between the galaxies also increases. Space itself is stretching; and as space stretches out farther and farther, time is also stretching. As the passage of time is affected by speed and gravity, it is also affected by the stretching of space. The amazing phenomenon of stretching space affects the passage of time from one moment to another rather than from one place to another.

In the first chapter of Genesis, the creation is said by God to have taken six days.

In order to properly understand this statement, we must identify the frame of reference from where this is described. Since God is the one telling the story, it is from His perspective that we must understand what He has said.

God’s perspective in recounting the story of creation is from eternity where neither speed nor gravity affects His perspective.

From God’s viewpoint outside of time, how does time unfold?

We should remember that a clock does not make time; it simply records the passing of seconds, minutes, and hours in a span of 24 hours, repeating itself over and over again. God does not record the passage of time by a clock; He uses “light” which is the only constant in the universe.

Light can be used to measure the passage of time by any change in wavelength or cycle or frequency of light. Science has proven that light can measure the passage of time by measuring the distance of the light from the sun compared to the wavelength or frequency of the same light created on Earth. The results confirm the predictions stated by Einstein and by the theory of time dilation.

In order to compare time today with time at the Big Bang and the passage of time between then and now, there has to be a source of light which exists today that also existed at the time of the Big Bang. This light source was discovered by accident in 1964, when two astronomers discovered what has been called “Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation” or CMBR.

This is the residual radiation that is left over from about 380,000 years after the moment of the Big Bang. It fills all of space today.

Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation makes a perfect cosmic clock because it reveals changes that have occurred in the wavelength, between the moment when matter was first formed following the Big Bang, and today. At the precise moment that the Big Bang occurred, the temperature of the initial plasma mass was approximately 11 Trillion degrees.[11]

The frequency of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation that corresponds with the original frequency of the CMBR was about 3 Trillion cycles per second. As the universe cooled and continued to expand, space also continued to stretch; and with it, the wavelength of the CMBR.[12]

Today the CMBR has cooled to only 2.73 degrees Kelvin.[13] The wavelength has slowed to just 3 cycles per second. The passage of this cosmic clock has slowed from 3 Trillion cycles per second to just 3 cycles per second. The stretching of space and time as the universe expanded, in turn, also stretched the distance between the wave crests of the Cosmic Background Radiation.[14]

An important point to remember regarding the Big Bang—the passage of time occurred at a trillion times faster than it does today. It is possible that the six days of creation that God describes in Moses’ account of creation, if in fact He is speaking of the entire creation of the universe—God is describing this event from His perspective, not ours here on earth. The Lord may be recounting what happened based on the passage of time reflected by the cosmic clock, running at billions of years for each year here on earth.

It is quite possible that God told Moses what happened at each of the six days of Genesis based on the passage of time as kept by the cosmic clock. Each “day” that Genesis describes, could reflect the transition of billions of year at the initial expansion of the universe, lasting for the first four “days,” slowing to millions of years in the passage of time, in the final two days of creation described in Genesis chapter one.

There is a simple formula which we can use to break the rate of change in the passage of cosmic time down into steps. In doing this, the amount of time passing will be seen from our local frame of reference, as we perceive the passage of time here on earth. We will be looking back in time, measuring time by our clocks today.

Our clocks are operating a trillion times slower than the cosmic clocks were running just after the Big Bang.

With every doubling in the size of the universe, from the first moment of the Big Bang up until the time of Adam, the stretching of the wavelength of the Cosmic Background Radiation reflects a slowing of the passage of time by one half.

Obviously, each doubling in the size of the universe takes longer than the previous double. Each double expansion has twice as far to go as the last.

If this theory is correct, then we would break the expansion of the universe into six steps.

These steps of the expansion of the universe have been called “Passages of Time” or “POTs.” Each POT reflects the passage of time from the moment of the Big Bang till now. Each of the doublings in the size of the universe results in the stretching of the size of the universe a trillion times.

The first of these POTs, looking back based on our time today, is 8 billion years. All the events of the Big Bang are recorded inside the coils of the expanding universe during this first POT, lasting 8 billion years.

Each time the universe expands, space and time stretch a trillion times. The extended distance between the coils of this wavelength are also stretching. The Lord tells Moses about the events of the first expansion of time. He describes these events as they took place during their original time frame of just one day. As God looks back, He sees those events from the perspective of our time here on earth, which runs a trillion times slower than the original cosmic clock used by God. He sees these events unfolding with the passage of time as 8 billion years, which reflects the stretching of space and time. With an adjustment in the logarithmic scale, the second of the P.O.T.s would reflect the passage of 4 billion years, and so on…

• The first POT would be 8 billion years, Day One.
• The second POT would be 4 billion years, Day Two.
• The third POT would be 2 billion years, Day Three.
• The fourth POT would be 1 billion years, Day Four.
• The fifth POT would be 500 million years, Day Five.
• The sixth Pot would be 250 million years, Day Six.

Following this theory to its finality, the universe would be about 15 billion years old instead of the current estimated age of 13.7 billion years. Many physicists have estimated that the universe could be as old as 15 billion years.[15]

This is only a theory that can be placed alongside my other theory that is mentioned in Prophecy 50. In this premise, the original creation of the universe dates back 13.7 billion years, with the earth’s formation dates at about 4.56 billion years. The earth was made by the Lord to be inhabited, according to Isaiah Chapter 44. In verse 2 of Genesis 1, some event transpired during the rebellion and fall of Lucifer, which caused the earth to be placed by God into a state of suspension for an unknown period of time. Then at about 6,000 years ago, God brings the earth out of its suspension, separates the land from the water, removes the heavy water vapor atmosphere, and allows the sun to be seen again from the earth. Seeds which are described in Genesis 1 as being already present on the earth begin to sprout and grow. The animals and man are created and placed on the earth. Adam is given dominion over the earth, while satan—the fallen angel Lucifer—stands in opposition to Adam’s rule and causes his fall.

Neither of these theories would seem to interfere or contradict the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth that are described in the Book of Genesis, chapter 1. For additional information regarding this important subject, please see the chapter in this book entitled: The Moment of Creation. In consideration of the true beginning of the universe, no scientist today knows precisely when this event took place. At this point in time, all of the theories, including my own, are really only conjecture and speculation. We should remember that none of us were there when the universe began, so we may never know on this side of eternity, precisely how old the universe is.

I submit three theories for the age of the universe in this book for your evaluation and consideration. Time and the return of the Lord alone will reveal to us what really happened at the moment of creation and exactly how and when the Lord created all things that exist.

The human conscience and the existence of God

Today, science still cannot explain human consciousness. It is a complete mystery how the human mind is so much greater than the mind of all other species on the earth. The Bible describes human consciousness as being a gift from the eternal God to whom Micah here ascribes eternity—the source of all life.

One of the greatest proofs for the existence of God and the fact that human life exists, originates from the will of God in creating the conscience of the human mind. When most people commit a wrongful act, they feel a sense of guilt. There is something within the psyche of the human species that tells us when we have done something that is wrong. The animal kingdom possesses no such conscience. They have no sense of right or wrong, only the instinct to act in a given situation. Secular and scientific reason conclude that the conscience which speaks to a person, revealing the ability to determine what is morally right or wrong, comes as a result of learned experiences. This, however, does not explain how a small child of 2 or 3, who can barely speak a sentence and has yet to learn the difference between right or wrong or acquire any learned behavior, will exhibit a sense of guilt when he takes a cookie or toy that is not his. These toddlers display their inner knowledge of wrong doing by hiding the article they have taken, or by lying that they did not take anything at all. Even small children exhibit the capacity to know what is right and wrong, and show guilt when they are confronted with their wrongful actions. This is substantial evidence that the conscience of moral absolutes is a quality that is built into the human mind before birth. If human beings have evolved from lower life forms, how is it that this conscience of guilt when moral wrong is committed exists? No ape or other animal has ever exhibited a sense of guilt or even a hint of knowledge that its behavior is wrong.

It is certain that the existence of the moral conscience that is clearly present in the human mind and heart—are there by design, having been hardwired into every human being. We see an example of this inner moral compass by the words of Paul, as he wrote to the Christian church that was in Rome during the first century.

Ontological arguments for the existence of God

Romans 1:19-20 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…

First, we know that God exists, because He has placed a knowledge of Himself inside the heart of every person.[16] Universally, around the world, in all cultures and people, throughout the history of man on the earth—a knowledge inherent to the heart of all people—causes a sense of worship and wonder at the self-evident presence of God.

Second, the Lord has also placed a knowledge of eternity in the heart of the human species. Every person understands that death is unnatural, unreasonable, and not a normal part of life. We seem to understand inherently that something has taken place in this world which has caused an unnatural break in what should be a life without end. It is not logical or reasonable that, at some point, we would cease to exist. All of us feel a deep sense of eternity; we seem to know inherently that we should not die.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

The psyche of the human soul

When human beings violate their own conscience repeatedly, that conscience becomes “seared’ and loses its ability to feel guilt. When this occurs in an individual, we say that he is a “sociopath.”

A few of the behaviors that develop in people who have lost or do not posses the ability of a conscience:

• They do not recognize the rights of others.
• People are seen as instruments to be used.
• A grandiose sense of self
• They can tell a lie or speak an untruth without guilt.
• It is almost impossible for this person to consistently tell the truth.
• A complete lack of remorse or feelings of guilt
• Any sense of empathy or love comes from an underlying ulterior motive.
• Often promiscuous, with deviant sexual behavior
• Lack of empathy for the suffering of others
• Leading parasitic lifestyle, taking pleasure from the pain of others

1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron…

Notice that the conscience that has been provided by God is lost by “giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,” resulting in a conscience that is “seared,” or can no longer feel guilt or remorse, which leads to an abhorrent lifestyle. It is interesting that this loss of conscience is linked to demonic activity in the life of a person. Once human beings make the decision to deny the existence of God or His claim over their life, they become open prey for demonic activity, that can sear the conscience and prevent a person from feeling any guilt or empathy towards others—along with the loss of a clear moral compass that dictates what is right or wrong behavior.

It is clear that the human conscience that causes us to feel guilt is intended as a sign to us for the existence of God.

Micah 5:2c describes this mighty Creator as coming out of eternity, stepping into time to make Himself an offering for our sins, in order to complete the plan of salvation designed by God to make heaven ours.
