Application:

Faithfulness is one of the foundations of the Messiah’s kingdom. God has represented to all mankind who He is, by the words and actions of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ life, we have a clear understanding of what God is like. Jesus said that if we have seen Him, we have seen the Father (John 14:9, above).

If you want to know what God is like and what kind of being He is, all you have to do is study the person of Jesus Christ. The Bible describes Jesus as the eternal God, who created all things (Colossians 4:16-17). In the first line of text from the Bible, Genesis 1:1, we see that it was Jesus who created the heavens and the earth. All the deeds of God—all His words and His heart for mankind are manifested and fulfilled in Jesus. The prophecies of the Old Testament that foretell the coming of a Savior, who would make the redemption of all people possible, is fulfilled entirely in the person of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Revelation Chapter 1:5 speaks of Jesus as the faithful witness. Steadfastly, Jesus represented the great love that God has for all people. The fact that God would allow His Son to die for sinners, such as us, is proof evermore of His abiding love. If we should ever doubt the love of God, all we must do is look back to the cross that Jesus died upon, two thousand years ago. In this incredible display of selfless love, we should forever be persuaded that God loves us so deeply, that He was willing to give His only Son for us.

John Chapter 17 is Jesus prayer to the Father, describing His earnest desire to be a faithful witness to the world of who God is.

John 17:3-8 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. 6 I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. 8 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.”

Jesus spoke of making eternal life known to the world as they believe in Him, whom God has sent. Jesus said that He has finished the work that the Father has given Him to do as a faithful servant before God. He manifested the name of God to all people; and as a result of Jesus’ true witness of who God is, the world now knows God and all that He requires of us to—forgive our sins and grant us an eternal entrance into heaven.

Before Jesus arrived, the world did not have a clear understanding of who God is, and what He required. Through Jesus, we now understand that we are sinners in desperate need of God’s help. Once we agree with Him on this first principle, He reveals that we don’t have to remain sinners. We can come to God in the name of Jesus and request that our sins be forgiven and eternal life—be granted to us. We can ask Jesus to come and dwell within us forever and lead us along the correct paths of life. If we agree with God and do what He has asked of us, He will accept us and take away all condemnation for our sins. We can know for certain that we have eternal life and that all is well between us and God.

The Bible declares that these things are only possible through God’s faithful witness—Jesus Christ.

In this 131st Old Testament Prophecy, Psalms 89:36-37 describes the Messiah as the faithful witness of God’s plan and purpose for mankind. Jesus perfectly fulfilled this prophecy in His representation of the Father and the amazing plan of salvation that He fashioned and established for us.
