They call him “Jesus,” but he is not the Jesus of the Bible.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses, founded in the late 1870’s and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, founded in the 1820’s, both claim to be Christian churches–while they deny the Historical Jesus of the Bible. In order to be correctly designated as “Christian,” a church or an individual must believe in the Christ of the Bible.
If we ask a Jehovah’s Witness, or Mormon leader–if they believe in the historical Jesus as He is described in the Bible, many will respond that they do. Unfortunately, their answers do not correspond to the public record of doctrines and statements–which have been written during the history of their churches. Continue reading “A Different Jesus”
