The Atheist’s Inability To Comprehend God

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Those Who Deny God, Cannot Understand Him

A human being is made up of three components; body, soul, and Spirit. When a person is born, the body is preeminent, it rules the life of the person. Whatever the body wants, it expresses through the desires of the flesh. The soul is the inhabitation of the emotions, where a person expresses their thoughts, feelings and emotions. The spirit, which is the only part of man that can know and understand God, is dead because of sin.[1]

When Jesus told Nicodemus, in John chapter 3, that “you must be “born again,” He was describing the spirit. In order for any person to understand God, or to comprehend His word, first his spirit must be born again, into a new relationship with God. Until our sins are dealt with and removed by God, it is impossible for us to have a relationship with God.[2]

Jesus death on the cross, paid for the sins of all people, for all time. All those who are willing to repent from their sins and come to Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins, are born again—into this new spiritual life.[3]

This is one of the preeminent differences between Biblical Christianity and religion. The religions of man ignore the spiritual side of man, regarding sin, repentance and the need to experience a new life in the spirit. Man’s religion requires conformance into a set of rules or conduct. The Bible reveals that there are no rules that any person can keep that will make them acceptable to God. It is by a reliance upon what Jesus has accomplish that God will accept any person.[4]

To those who do not know God, who have yet to experience this new birth of the spirit, these things are difficult to comprehend. Some even scoff at this possibility and find it impossible to believe. Nevertheless, this is what the text of the New Testament reveals. Continue reading “The Atheist’s Inability To Comprehend God”

The Overwhelming Empirical Evidence for Jesus Death and Resurrection

COPYRIGHT WARNING

It is a fundamental principle of factual authenticity that no amount of evidence is ever sufficient to convince most skeptics of the Bible and the Historical Jesus–that both are true and reliable.

This author has been actively in pursuit of the facts of Jesus’ Resurrection, as well as the historicity of His existence as a real person of antiquity, for nearly 40 years. During this time, the facts which fully validate Jesus as a real person of history have continued to pile up–while those who reject Jesus has also increased. A person who has determined the end result of any question or unknown subject before the search begins cannot be convinced by evidence. Only those who are intellectually honest and are willing to follow the facts where they lead, may discover the real truth of any question of life.

I have found that in every discussion with atheist’s today who believe that the person of Jesus Christ is a myth, these individuals rarely investigate the available evidence for themselves. It is a clear and reoccurring problem with many atheists that they do not care to investigate evidence. Relying instead upon the words of other atheists a great number of critics simply do not investigate the facts to see if they are valid. It has been clear to me over the past 40 years that a great number of conclusions made by unbelievers are based upon personal choice rather than evidence. When a person does not want to believe something, they often look for others who agree with their conclusions in order to validate their choice.

In this article I present a brief example of historical evidence for the man described as Jesus of Nazareth which has been a part of the historical record for over 2,000 years. Even against vigorous opposition from adversaries who refuse to accept the written historical record, this evidence from secular history has been full validated by literary and historical scholars. God Cannot Be Known By Wisdom Alone

COPYRIGHT WARNING

There is a sorrow that we can experience as human beings, that is implacable. The emptiness that we feel in our hearts, which drives us to fill a void that is overwhelming, comes largely from our conscious and innermost sorrow for our sins.

Many of those who have yet to come into an awareness of God in their life, believe that by the pursuit of pleasure, wealth, experiences, or knowledge, a person can find satisfaction. In reality, the pursuit of these aspirations is much more satisfying than the actual acquisition of them. Once we attain some of these pursuits, we find that the objects of our affection remain unable to satisfy the longing of our heart. Some people spend their entire life chasing their dreams, only to discover after they have attained their aspirations that they are still unfulfilled and often empty.

We were created by God to know Him, worship Him, and have a deep and personal relationship with Him.

When we live our lives in the pursuit of God, our entire dynamic of life changes. We find purpose, great pleasure, deep fulfillment, and lasting peace. I have often listened to and read the comments of those who espouse their certainty that God does not exist. It is easy to sense that despite their outward claims of self-satisfaction, by their words, in their eyes, and on their faces, the emptiness of their soul is apparent. Many times it seems to me that these skeptics are trying to convince themselves as much as persuade others that God is not real and that they have no need of Him. Something deep inside tells the scoffer that God is real, yet they will not concede nor surrender. Continue reading “God Cannot Be Known By Wisdom Alone”

10 Reasons Why Atheists Will Not Believe In God

COPYRIGHT WARNING

After many years of conversing with atheists, it has become clear what the real reasons are for their unwillingness to believe that God exists.

Although conversations with those who do not believe in God will eventually venture into their intellectual objections to the Christian Gospel, in truth, their objections are a camouflage for the true barriers of their heart.

The following list is the result of my own observations of those who have told me the many reasons why they do not believe in God. After having had the opportunity to try and get to know the persons who call themselves or live by the defining definition of an atheist, these are the conclusion that I have arrived at. A Unique Love for the Atheist

COPYRIGHT WARNING

There is a special affinity that Jesus has for those who do not believe in Him. He did not mock or ridicule those who refused to believe in God–He loved them. David wrote in Psalm 109:4: In return for my love, they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer.

The testimony of Luke, the physician, is that during the time of the crucifixion, Jesus cried our in prayer for those who had rejected Him and placed Him on the cross: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” –Luke 23:34
