He was not the kind of man that most people would consider a powerful leader, or conqueror of nations. He worked with His hands and shaped wood from trees into useful objects for life. He used no force to compel anyone, He spoke humbly, and treated the lost, the broken, and the poor, with great compassion and love.

He did not attend a prominent Rabbinical school to learn the ancient scriptures. He was no author or traveling evangelist. There were no accolades or parades when He came into the world, though He created all that exists by the words of His mouth.

He was rejected, despised, ridiculed, scourged and crucified. While bearing unimaginable suffering Himself, the constant desire of His heart was to bring freedom to His tormentors. To the men who tortured Him: “Father, forgiven them.” To the repentant thief on the cross who had mocked Him moments before: “Today you will be with me in paradise.” To the whole world, a promise: “It is finished.” The work of your redemption is complete, eternal life is yours, heaven is your eternal home.

His heart burst from within as the mounting pressure of bearing the sins of the world pushed his body beyond the stress than any man had ever bore. He commanded His spirit to depart His body. He breathed His last, His blood poured out, His work– finished.

For three days, He lay in the borrowed tomb of a friend, his body experiencing no decay. On the first day of the week, a spectacular event–equalled, only by the first moments of the universe; when light exploded into the darkness of this world and He was alive once more.

When we read the New Testament narrative of Jesus, we are struck by the impossibility of this story. There are many aspects of the accounts that the writers are describing that were not expected by Israel, nor the world. The idea that God would visit the earth in the form of human being. The thought that the natural laws of the universe could be suspended by the voice of a man. How could anyone speak to a raging sea and calm it?The possibility that a person could shout at a tomb and the dead would return to life. It’s a good thing that Jesus said the name of Lazarus when He commanded Him to rise; otherwise the dead from the whole world would have risen.

This is a systematic treatise that intricately details the purpose of Jesus’ presence here on the earth.. See His life, death, and resurrection through the lens of the Hebrew scriptures in one of the most thorough and detailed books available today.

The Following is from the Preface to One Gospel:

“These things were written so that you might believe”

How would you feel if you had a son and he went into hostile territory to seek out and save people who would never thank him for what he had done? What would you do if these individuals falsely accused your son of crimes he did not commit and had him arrested, beaten, and executed?¹ What emotions would you feel if your son cried out to you to forgive the men who were torturing your son, and he asked you to not hold these crimes against them?² What would you do to these men, when they treated the love that your son gave to them, as garbage to be thrown out and disregarded?³

We forget that there was a Father who was watching His Son die, as Jesus hung on the cross. God planned this event, before the creation of the universe. The Son wanted to save us and He was willing to take upon Himself, all of our sins.

Consider that all of the drops of rain that have fallen upon the earth since its creation, are comparable to the tears that fell from the face of the Father, when His Son bore our sins upon the cross, suffered so greatly, and died.

According to NASA and experts in Astronomy, the Blood Moon that will occur in September, 2015, is nothing remarkable; this phenomenon happens quite frequently and we should not read anything supernatural into this event.

When Jesus arrived on the earth the first time, there were “Signs in the Heavens,” in the form of a planet conjunction. This phenomenon was significant enough that several astronomers from the east made a long and difficult journey to Israel. There is credible evidence that these “Wise Men,” believed that this bright “star” that had appeared, was a fulfillment of the prophecies of Isaiah and Micah, which foretold that the promised Messiah would arrive on the earth at that time.

History also records a supernatural event that took place from 12 noon to 3 pm, on the day that Jesus was dying for the sins of the world on the cross. This event is documented by secular as well as Biblical sources.

Roman historian, Tertullian, describes an account by Phlegon, that a Total Solar Eclipse had taken place during the time that Jesus was crucified at Jerusalem.

“In the same hour (as the crucifixion), too, the light of day was withdrawn, when the sun at the very time was in his meridian blaze. Those who were not aware that this had been predicted about Christ, no doubt thought it an eclipse. You yourselves have an account of the world portent still in your archives (Phlegon’s account).”[1a]

The “archives,” that Phlegon refers to, are the Annals of Rome. These are the official records of history that were meticulously kept at the Roman Senate. This is corroboration of the New Testament text that Jesus was on the cross, crucified, died, and that darkness took place at the specific time that the narrative of the New Testament writers says that it happened.[1b]

Julius Africanus also records that Roman historian, Thallus, stated that the darkness that took place during Jesus’ crucifixion could not have been caused by a solar eclipse. The feast of Passover is always observed on the 14th day of Nissan (April), during a full moon. A solar eclipse can only occur during a new moon. It is astronomically impossible for a total eclipse of the sun to occur, concurrent with a full moon. [1c] Therefore, the darkness from noon to 3pm, that is reported in the New Testament, could not have been caused by a total solar eclipse.

If the Sun was obscured and darkness fell over the entire earth for three hours, and it was not a Total Solar Eclipse, what was it? History records that it took place and science cannot explain it. The Bible simply states that God caused this event in response to the death of His Son.

On the same evening of Jesus crucifixion, historians also confirm a second event that is recorded by both the Bible and secular historians; on the evening of that same day; a Total Lunar Eclipse occurred, displaying a “Blood Moon.” This event was confirmed by Astronomer, Colin J. Humphreys by use of computer models which recreated the astronomical events that took place in 32 A.D.

Too many coincidences

Scientists will tell us that these three occurrences are simply coincidences that just happened to take place during the time of Jesus birth, and death. They say that they are perfectly natural phenomenon that can be explained by science and astronomy; We don’t need God, nor the Bible to explain what happened.

As we look at the thousands of times in the history of the world when supernatural events have taken place, there are just too many to conclude that they were all coincidences.

The following are the facts that surround the signs in the heavens that took place when Jesus arrived on the earth the first time, at His death, and are predicted to take place once again when He returns to earth. (more…)

One of the stunning developments that has occurred in the United States during the past 60 years, is the movement of our citizens away from God and the Bible.

After decades of eroding morality and a rise in secular humanism, we no longer possess the faith of our forefathers. Beginning in the fifties, the Christian church ceased from teaching its members the principles of the Bible. This resulted in a nation of individuals who did not know what God has said, nor what He requires. This famine of God’s word produced an eroding national morality, and the acceptance of abhorrent lifestyles that were formerly considered illegal or perverse. Under the guise of equal rights, an onslaught of court cases, sought legal recourse to redefine marriage and what America considers normal in sexual relationships.

During this same period, Colleges and Universities began to teach evolution as the reason for all life, resulting in the exclusion of God from government and educational institutions.

As same-sex relationships became acceptable to the American people, the insistence for more rights, to a wider group of alternative lifestyle and gender identities, has also increased. In April of 2016, a 16 year old North Carolina student, who was born a female but identifies as a male, sued the Gloucester County School Board that had created a policy the prohibited any student from using a restroom that is contrary to their biological sex. On April 19, 2016, a federal appeals court in Richmond, Virginia, gave permission for this case to go forward as a sexual discrimination lawsuit against the school board. According to the federal court, the basis of the case is Title IX of the Federal law that prohibits sex discrimination at schools that receive federal funding.

We are seeing an ever increasing movement by the LGBT advocates to demand that every phase of American culture; government, churches, business, and education, accept every abhorrent demand that is made to accommodate their chosen lifestyles. This movement towards a national acceptance of gays and lesbians as normal and acceptable in every phase of American society, began in 1962 (more…)

When beginning a conversation with those who identify themselves as an atheist, the common objection that is stated for their unbelief in God is the assertion that there is no evidence which proves His existence.

When this statement is made, we must ask: “what kind of evidence are you looking for?

The atheist will usually tell you: “empirical, scientific, testable, evidence.”

This declaration leaves the intelligent person quite perplexed. The evidence for God is quite overwhelming. It becomes clear during these conversations with the atheist that evidence is not the real hindrance to their unbelief. We find that the will of the person had firmly entrenched the mind into a refusal to acknowledge evidence, even when it is compelling and empirical. This plight is very common amongst the human species and can be observed in several similar circumstances. The will is often dictated by the heart. When the heart is unyielding or unwilling to accept facts which are contrary to the will, the heart will refuse to accept these facts. A person who has determined in advance, what the results will be, cannot accept any evidence which violates their will. (more…)

The darkness which suddenly occurred during the time of Jesus Crucifixion in the Gospel of Matthew, is confirmed by secular sources. It is interesting that those who claim that the narrative of Jesus death and resurrection in the New Testament is a fabrication and myth–ignore the Historical records of these events. How is it that a myth could be confirmed by non-interested and hostile parties? Roman historians record a supernatural event of unknown origin–precisely occurring at noon on the day Jesus was crucified and lasting until 3 pm the same day–precisely as the New Testament Gospels describe.

“Search your writings and you shall find that in Pilates time, when Christ suffered, the sun was suddenly withdrawn and darkness followed”. –Rufinus, Greek Historian

“Now from the sixth hour (Noon) until the ninth hour (3 Pm) there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” –Matthew 27:45-46 (more…)

There are many of the prophecies of the Messiah which are so difficult and complex that it would be impossible for any one person to fulfill. How would a convicted and destitute criminal arrange to have a wealthy member of the Sanhedrin, give him his own costly tomb to be buried? Seven hundred years before Jesus was crucified and laid in the tomb, Isaiah the Prophet describes the Messiah as He is buried in the tomb of a rich man.

Isaiah 53:9a And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth.

Matthew records Joseph of Arimathea as the rich man described by Isaiah and Nicodemus, also from the Sanhedrin, who came with 100 pounds of costly spices to anoint Jesus body.

Matthew 27:57-60 Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.

John 19:38  After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus. 39 And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.

At first glance, many people would wonder why being buried in a rich man’s grave was important to the Messiah’s story. The fact that Jesus was so poor and without any assets of His own, being buried in the tomb of a rich man would be notable and cause for attention. This appears to be one of the reasons that the Lord chose this prophecy to be fulfilled by the Messiah. (more…)

In the present modern age of the internet and computer technology, the world has the largest assembly of information ever known. The ability to search or write on any subject has become commonplace amongst those who have a laptop or handheld device. Research into the subject of Jesus life, death, and resurrection, is as easy as a few clicks of the keyboard. Adversaries of the Bible and Jesus Christ have written extensively in rebuttal of the historical Jesus, as well as the New Testament narrative which describes His resurrection from the dead. Many claims have been made by critics who assert that Jesus is a myth, the Bible is full of inaccuracies, and the resurrection never happened. To the untrained, these articles put forth by critics may appear, on examination, credible and factual. In fact, they are not.

To begin, most articles which claim that the Bible is inaccurate, or that Jesus is a myth, are based on the opinions of the writer and have no historical or factual basis. It is common amongst atheists and non-believers that they often espouse statements that have come to them from other atheists or non believers. Very rarely do any of those who take an adversarial position to the Bible or Jesus Christ, ever investigate whether the statements they are making–have a factual basis. Those who do posit facts, have invalid or inaccurate facts, and are not trained in the subjects that they claim to have knowledge of.

Upon a thorough examination of these positions against the Bible and the person of Jesus Christ, we find that these individuals did not begin with the idea that the facts are likely true, but commenced  upon their investigation with the assumption that the Bible is an assembly of stories–written by men and the person of Jesus Christ is a fabrication of history. When any person begins with an assumption that something is not true, this bias will cloud every part of their investigation. It is impossible to arrive at a truly impartial conclusion when we have determined ahead of time that something must not be true.

The only way in which any honest person can truly know what is true and what is false–is when we begin with the premise: “I don’t know,” and then follow the evidence where it leads. (more…)

The prophet Isaiah wrote nearly 2,700 years ago that when the Messiah makes His appearance in Jerusalem, He will be beaten, crucified, and rise from the dead. The leaders of Israel will see Him as He is dying on the cross and determine that He is suffering for His own sins. The prophet further describes the truth of the Messiah’s sacrifice as substitutionary and securing the salvation of every person who will embrace and accept it personally.[1]

To the present day, many Jews have been taught that Jesus died due to His own errors and that His death occurred as a result of sins which He committed against God and His word. Isaiah describes the exact opposite: Messiah will not sin Himself, but will bear the sins of the world during His sacrifice upon the cross.

Why is it that a person will hear the opinions of others and immediately accept the conclusions as accurate–without having investigated the assertions themselves? It seems that in matters of eternal significance–which is the case with Messiah, the claims of Jesus should be examined with the record of Hebrew prophecy, as well as the historical record of the New Testament narrative. The men who were present at the time Jesus conducted His three and one-half year ministry here on earth, testified that He had committed no sin, and that His death on the cross was determined in advance–for the entire world. Jesus came in fulfillment of 55 prophecies from Isaiah and the 22nd Psalm, which all described His crucifixion and death in vivid detail. (more…)

The Messiah will be beaten in His face and have His beard pulled out by His revilers.

Isaiah 50:6b I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard

Matthew 26:67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands.

Although there is no specific reference in the New Testament to anyone pulling Jesus’ beard out with their hands as Isaiah described, it is for certain that this took place. In actuality, the fact that it is omitted from the New Testament is further proof that the New Testament account of Jesus and His crucifixion are not only true but also accurate.

If someone were intending to falsify the account of Jesus’ life to make it match the clear Old Testament prophecies of Isaiah 50:6, it is for certain that they would include a description of Jesus having His beard pulled out. Scholars agree that Isaiah’s description is intended for the Messiah. It would have been very easy to add a description of Jesus having His beard torn from His face, if the writers of the gospels were seeking to convince any reader that Jesus was the Messiah. By their absence of this description, it appears as if it was simply an oversight that occurred in the midst of recording the other events described in the New Testament. Such omissions of facts are often the case in actual eyewitness accounts. (more…)
