Would God Really Come To Earth; Humble And Poor?

COPYRIGHT WARNING

If God intended to introduce Himself to the world by His Son, would He dispatch Him to our world by means of poverty and insignificance? If it was the desire of men, to create a legend that would beguile the world into believing that it was true, would they use a primary character like Jesus of Nazareth?

Before Jesus was born, there was a well-known scandal that Mary, who was betrothed to Joseph, had an affair with another man. The by-product of this adulterous relationship was Jesus. Mary had claimed that the child she was carrying was conceived by the Holy Spirit, not by any man. One variation of this story included a Roman soldier by the name of Pantera as the true father of Jesus.

Joseph and Mary were poor and nearly destitute when Jesus came into the world. He grew up in the town of Nazareth, a place despised by many people in Israel. From about the age of twelve, Jesus began to assert that He was the Son of God. He insulted and defied many of the cultural and religious laws and traditions of the elders of Israel. The men that followed Jesus were some of the most insignificant and despised individuals that were imaginable during that time. Throughout His entire ministry, Jesus had no home, and only the most basic of clothing and food. He achieved no acceptance whatsoever by the leaders of Israel, and He was rejected as the promised Messiah.

These are a few of the reasons that so few people received Jesus as the Messiah, or chose to follow Him. His birth, His manner of life, His background and the scandal attached to His name, were offensive to many people. Continue reading “Would God Really Come To Earth; Humble And Poor?”

The Singularity of God: His Existence and Being

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Orion_Nebula_-_Hubble_2006_mosaic_18000The argument that there is no proof for the existence of God is irrational. In fact, there is no reasonable explanation for the universe or life itself, apart from God. The question that has been rightly asked is: “Why is there a universe at all?”

Since everything that exists has an explanation for its existence, there must also be a reason that the universe exists. Since all things that are temporal have a first cause and the universe came into being at some point, then the universe has a first cause. Since it is impossible for anything to cause itself, therefore, the universe is caused by a power that is transcendent of time and space. By the complexity, balance, and design of the universe, we perceive that all things in existence were caused by an infinite intelligence—an intelligence which is without limits and is perfect, knowing all things. Only a perfect and eternal being would have the capacity to create such a universe. I personally do not understand why it is so hard for people to accept that God exists and that He is the most logical explanation for the existence of the universe.

There are two types of things that exist.

Things that exist by necessity.
Things which are caused.

Mathematics exists by necessity. They are not caused to exist by anything else; they exist by their own by necessity.

The universe does not need to exist, it exists because it was caused. Nothing comes into existence apart from intelligence, therefore; God is the most logical cause of the universe, since it would require an infinite intelligence.

A Being which is eternal, such as God, does not require a cause.

The error of evolution is that it cannot explain how life began in the first place.[1] Life was also, not necessary, it was caused. Since Human intelligence requires an equal or greater intelligence to bring us into being, the logical explanation is also God.

Could we imagine that the microprocessors that enable today’s computers to function, came about by random mutations or chance arrangements of atoms? How much more difficult would it be to evolve a human mind, which is exponentially greater in complexity to any microprocessor or sophisticated computer code?

How did God make the universe?

In the beginning there was nothing. The universe did not exist. There were no planets, no stars, not even empty space. Imagine all the matter that makes up the universe, tightly compressed into a particle that is nearly invisible. Scientists believe that it was from this tiny, densely compressed speck of material, that everything that we see today, originated.[2]

At zero linear time, this speck of material exploded and expanded at hundreds of millions of miles per hour. This was an incomprehensible sphere of energy that was dense and compact beyond imagination. The temperature of the initial flash of energy was trillions of degrees. It was a mass of pure plasma expanding at the Speed of Light.[3]

Everything that would exist in our present universe would come from this initial material; the planets, the stars, every living thing; even time and space itself—all things were created at that moment. Continue reading “The Singularity of God: His Existence and Being”

TAKE A LOOK INSIDE

There is a goal in the lives of those who endeavor to be great men of faith; to attempt something so impossible, that without God causing it happen, it is certain to fail. Imagine a prophecy that has a component which is so difficult to fulfill, that should it actually happen, it would be unmistakable evidence that the one who satisfied the requirements of that prophecy, must be the Messiah.

Despite the normal procedure for a crucifixion in which the legs of a man would be broken to hasten his death, Jesus’ legs are not broken during His crucifixion. How could someone engineer his own death by crucifixion, yet none of his bones would be broken, as was common during crucifixions of that day?

Think for a moment and consider what an amazing event this was. How carefully God had to plan and arranged the events of Jesus’ crucifixion so that He would fully pay for the sins of the world on the cross, but die before the soldiers arrive to break His legs. Imagine what it would have meant if Jesus had continued to live just a short time longer, and the soldiers had also broken His legs! Jesus would have failed to fulfill the prophecies that describe the Messiah as the Passover Lamb with not one bone broken in Numbers 9:12. A simple failure in just this one prediction would have meant that Jesus could not fulfill all the prophecies of the Messiah, and He could not be our Savior.

What if: on the day that Jesus was crucified, He was the only one to died on a cross? What if there was only one other criminal to die, Isaiah said that the Messiah would die with: “transgressors” Isaiah 53:12c.

If Jesus was the only person crucified on that day, He would have failed to fulfill Isaiah’s prophecy and more yet: He would have been disqualified from fulfilling all of Isaiah’s prophecies regarding the Messiah. In order to be defined by God as a true prophet, all of the words of every prophecy that are spoken, must come to pass, precisely as they were predicted (Deuteronomy 18:21-22). If this one prophecy had not been fulfilled by Isaiah, because Jesus was the only man to die on that day, then all 131 of Isaiah’ s prophecies would also have been disqualified. This gives us an idea how impossible it was for the authors of the New Testament to write with such precision and have their words be fulfilled to the very letter.

Let us imagine for just a moment that the timing of any one of the events concerning the crucifixion had been altered in the slightest. Let us say that the beating that Jesus received by scourging was just slightly more severe. The pressure from the strikes against His body just a little harder. What if the soldier beating Jesus with the scourge had hit a vital organ with the metal pieces of the scourge, causing it’s failure? Jesus may have died before He even made it to the cross. What if Jesus did not have the ability to control the precise moment that His Spirit departed His body? He would still be alive when the soldiers came to break the legs of the other men, and His legs would have also been broken. These simple changes in the entire process would have invalidated Jesus claim to be the Messiah; for the prophecies specifically state that the legs of the Messiah cannot be broken. Jesus claimed that He was controlling the specific moment of His death upon the cross:

No one takes My life from Me, but I lay it down when I chose. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it back again.”

The Narrative of Jesus life, death, and resurrection was written by Honest Men who were endeavoring to tell us the true accounts of the most astounding person who has ever lived. This book details the incredible life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth in a vivid and stunning way that has not been presented before.

The Atheist’s Inability To Comprehend God

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Those Who Deny God, Cannot Understand Him

A human being is made up of three components; body, soul, and Spirit. When a person is born, the body is preeminent, it rules the life of the person. Whatever the body wants, it expresses through the desires of the flesh. The soul is the inhabitation of the emotions, where a person expresses their thoughts, feelings and emotions. The spirit, which is the only part of man that can know and understand God, is dead because of sin.[1]

When Jesus told Nicodemus, in John chapter 3, that “you must be “born again,” He was describing the spirit. In order for any person to understand God, or to comprehend His word, first his spirit must be born again, into a new relationship with God. Until our sins are dealt with and removed by God, it is impossible for us to have a relationship with God.[2]

Jesus death on the cross, paid for the sins of all people, for all time. All those who are willing to repent from their sins and come to Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins, are born again—into this new spiritual life.[3]

This is one of the preeminent differences between Biblical Christianity and religion. The religions of man ignore the spiritual side of man, regarding sin, repentance and the need to experience a new life in the spirit. Man’s religion requires conformance into a set of rules or conduct. The Bible reveals that there are no rules that any person can keep that will make them acceptable to God. It is by a reliance upon what Jesus has accomplish that God will accept any person.[4]

To those who do not know God, who have yet to experience this new birth of the spirit, these things are difficult to comprehend. Some even scoff at this possibility and find it impossible to believe. Nevertheless, this is what the text of the New Testament reveals. Continue reading “The Atheist’s Inability To Comprehend God”

When The Lord Waits: His Plans And Purposes In Everything

When the Lord Waits Cover

“When The Lord Waits,” $3.77 at Amazon

As I write these word, my dear wife lies in a bed across from me, in the Intensive Care unit of a hospital. Two months ago, she began to experience headaches and a loss of vision. An M.R.I., revealed that she has a Craniopharyngioma, a tumor, about the size of a golf ball, inside the very center of her brain. The optic nerves of her eyes, as well as the Pituitary gland, have been compressed by the presence of this slow growing tumor, during her entire forty-eight years, until it has finally robbed her of all vitality of life.

Two months previous to my wife’s awareness that she would require two intensive brain surgeries, I suffered a heart attack on a remote island in the Philippines. We had been working together for the past five years, to bring relief to the poor of an forgotten people who live in object poverty. Just after midnight, on October 10, 2014, I awoke with a searing pain in the center of my back, left shoulder, arm, and chest. I didn’t know at the time that I was having a heart attack. I had been working so hard that I believed my pain was caused by a torn muscle in my back. I did not receive any treatment for my heart attack for another three weeks. I should have died during the early weeks after this event, but incredibly, I survived. A blood clot had formed in the lower part of my heart that doctors describe as a “Thrombosis.” Nearly one-third of my heart muscle had died during this attack. Shortly after arriving back in the United States for treatment in late November of 2014, we learned of my wife’s brain tumor. Yeshu: The Historical Jesus

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Jesus As A Matter Of History

No credible Biblical scholar today believes that Jesus was not a real person of history. The evidence for His existence is so overwhelming, that to deny Jesus lived in Galilee at the time depicted by the New Testament would place any writer in a classification of incompetency.[1]

All opposition to the existence of Jesus has now been refuted; and the fact that He lived and conducted Himself in the events described by the four Gospels of the New Testament, is incontrovertible.

A recent publication by Richard Carrier, entitled: “On the Historicity of Jesus,” fabricates a new theory that the Jesus who is alleged to have existed in the New Testament, was a sort of mystical being—not a physical entity.

This is similar to the atheist—theoretical physicists of late, who cannot explain the fine-tuning of our universe by any naturalistic cause. In an attempt to remove any possibility that an intelligent Being is responsible for the Cosmos, the newest hypothesis—described as the, “multiverse,” designates our universe as one of an infinite number of other parallel universes (which no one can see). If we have an unlimited number of universes, then we would certainly expect to find at least one like ours that is finely tuned for life.

Although cosmologists do not have the ability to see beyond our own universe to test this theory, nevertheless, this has become the newest explanation for why the universe appears to be designed for life. This allows the atheist to make the assertion that God is not necessary as the source of our universe, since in their view, it came into existence by itself.[2]

Much like the multiverse, which no one can see, Richard Carrier also creates an ancient mystical Jesus, which no one could see, who was simply a figment of the imagination.

This premise ignores the vast evidence that exists from the Jewish Talmud. The ancient scribes of Israel who chronicled Jesus in their writings, had no interest in preserving any historical information about Him, nor Christianity. The Jews who recorded their commentary about Jesus in the Talmud, regarded Him and His followers as the latest of many cult religions of their day. These leaders of Israel had no desire to document the existence of Jesus, His crucifixion, nor those who followed Him—yet this is precisely what they accomplished by their adversarial comments regarding His arrest and execution. These records were written during the period of history in which Jesus is reported to have been in Israel, as described by the narrative of the New Testament scriptures.[3]

Regardless of how many inferences Richard Carrier makes in his book that the historical Jesus is a fabrication, we must understand that this publication exists—exclusively as a result of a large financial grant from an atheist organization. It should be obvious to those who read Mr. Carrier’s book, that his entire purpose for writing—to deny the historicity of Jesus, was because he was paid to refute the existence of Jesus Christ.[4]

In essence, Richard Carrier is a mercenary for the atheist cause, not a literary or historical scholar who has followed the evidence to a credible conclusion. The facts are, Mr. Carrier cannot refute the certainty of recorded history. Both the Jews and the Romans would rather that Jesus had not existed, yet they found themselves recording many of the events of His life and death—in their preserved records of history. The evidence of antiquity demands that Jesus existed as a real person in Palestine during the period of history in which the New Testament describes Him.

Most people are intelligent enough to understand that a person who has already determined what the end result will be, before he begins to write—cannot be objective in his conclusions.
