Has “The Prince Who Is To Come” Of Daniel 9:27 Arrived?

Living in the last of the Last Days is exciting if you know Jesus as your Savior. His promise to return for His church, His promise to end this present world of evil, suffering, and death, is close to its fulfillment.

But before this moment arrives, there will be a Great Time of Tribulation. Nations will rise against nations, kingdoms in turmoil, lawlessness, violence, rebellion, and Israel as the central focus of the world.

In the midst of these events, the prophet Daniel wrote, 2,700 years ago, that a “Prince who is to come” (Daniel 9:26), who will rise to prominence and precede the Seven-Year Tribulation.

Daniel 9:27 Then he (the prince) shall confirm a covenant with many (nations) for one week; (seven years) but in the middle of the week (3.5 years) he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering (at the new Temple). And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, (Matthew 24) even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate.”

President Donald Trump is in Davos, Switzerland, this morning. A meeting of European Leaders, all waiting for the President to arrive. All the world wonders after this leader. Speaking to the leaders at this meeting, President Trump refers to his accomplishments in the first year of His presidency as “a miracle.”

Will The United States Invade Greenland?

“…And that’s the reason I’m seeking immediate negotiations to once again discuss the acquisition of Greenland by the United States.
Just as we have acquired many other territories throughout our history, as many of the European nations have. They’ve acquired, there’s nothing wrong with it. Many of them, someone in reverse, actually, if you look, some had great vast wealth, great vast lands all over the world.

…We probably won’t get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force, where we would be, frankly, unstoppable. But I won’t do that. Okay?
Now everyone’s saying, Oh, good. That’s probably the biggest statement I made, ’cause people thought I would use force. I don’t have to use force.
I don’t want to use force. I won’t use force.”

The Arrival of the Prince

The prophecy of Daniel 9:27 is one of the most extraordinary of all biblical prophecies. In the Last Days, a world leader will institute a peace plan between Israel, the Jews, and the surrounding nations that formerly threatened their existence.

When we examine the world today, a peace plan of this magnitude seems impossible. Only one person alive today has demonstrated his will and purpose in seeking an end to global wars, particularly concerning Israel and the Jews.

The Opening Statement of the Trump Peace Plan

“We do not believe that the parties in the region are fated to live in eternal conflict because of their different ethnicities and faiths. There have been many examples in history of Jews and Arabs, and Jews and Muslims and Christians, living in relative harmony in this region. Our hope is that this Vision inspires a future in which all the peoples in the region live together in peace and prosperity.”[1]

Donald Trump said that he wants to be known as the President who makes peace

President Donald Trump has publicly expressed his desire to be remembered as a “peacemaker and unifier.” This sentiment was prominently featured in his second inaugural address on January 20, 2025. In that speech, he stated:

“My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier. That’s what I want to be: a peacemaker and a unifier.”

This declaration was part of a broader theme in his speech, emphasizing the importance of ending conflicts and promoting unity. He highlighted the significance of measuring success not only by victories in battles but also by the wars that are prevented. For instance, he remarked:

“We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end — and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into.”[2]

Trump’s emphasis on being a peacemaker aligns with his administration’s focus on diplomatic efforts and conflict resolution. For example, during his presidency, he engaged in negotiations aimed at de-escalating tensions in various global hotspots.

In addition to his inaugural address, Trump reiterated this sentiment in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He expressed hope that his efforts would be recognized as peacemaking, stating:

“I hope I am going to be remembered as a peacemaker. This would be a great thing if we could do this (find a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war). I am doing this to save lives, more than anything else.”

These statements underscore Trump’s aspiration to leave a legacy centered on peace and unity.

The key attribute of the world leader, the Prince of Daniel 9:26, at the beginning of his term, will be to make a peace plan between Israel and the surrounding nations.

Marco Rubio, Secretary of State

“Mr. President, you know, I don’t know the one day, perhaps, the entire story will be told about the events of yesterday, but, uh, you know, sufficing to say, it’s not an exaggeration, without the President of the United States being involved, this could not have happened.”

“There’s a geopolitical aspect. But yesterday was a human story. And because of the work you put it, and honestly, there is no, not only is there no other leader in the world that could have put this together, Mr. President, but frankly, I don’t know of any American president in the modern era that could have made this possible, because of the actions you have taken unrelated to this, and because of who you are and what you’ve done.”

The Seven-Year Peace Plan Described in Daniel 9

The book of Daniel speaks of the necessity for a seven-year peace plan for Israel and the surrounding nations. Daniel’s prophecy was given to him by God concerning Israel in the last days. The Lord purposed that seventy weeks are determined for Israel and the Jews: 70 x 7 = 490 years (a prophetic week is seven years; see the Preface, regarding Genesis 29:27).

In the first seven weeks or 49 years, the Jews who were historically held captive in Babylon for 70 years were released in 445 BC to return to Israel and rebuild the Temple. The second set of sixty-two weeks was fulfilled at the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem in 32 AD as the Messiah, and He was cut off (killed).

The final week, the seventieth week, will be fulfilled during the seven-year Tribulation. During this time, a peace treaty will be made concerning Israel and many nations (Daniel 9:27). This treaty will be orchestrated by the Prince, the world ruler Daniel describes:

Daniel 9:26-27: “…the prince who is to come… he shall confirm a covenant (of peace) with many (nations) for one week 97 years) But in the middle of the week (3.5 years), He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering (at the Third Temple). And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”

Before the 2019 Israeli election of their prime minister, Trump stated that his “Super Peace Plan” would not be revealed until the election results were finalized. The new prime minister was not decided until April 20, 2020, when Israel’s political leaders broke the political impasse—when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his challenger, Benny Gantz, announced a deal to join forces and form an emergency unity government. Under the terms of this new agreement, Netanyahu would remain as prime minister for 18 months, with Gantz following after that time as prime minister of Israel.

Trump released the terms of his Super Peace Plan during a White House press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on January 28, 2020.

The reason for this peace plan, part of the Abraham Accords, was an effort by President Trump to stop an attack on Israel by using the US military. We should understand that the real goal of Russia is not Syria but Israel. The events that are taking place today in Israel and Syria will lead to a future attack on Israel by Russia and other nations, according to the prophecy of Ezekiel 38.

The Most Important Sign Of Jesus’ Return

Many of the prophecies of the last days that are important to the return of Jesus depend upon one stunning prophecy: the return of the Jews to their own country. No other nation or people who have been dispersed all over the world, and have lost their land and national identity, have ever come back to their land and have been established as a nation and people a second time. This was until the Jews returned to their land in 1948.

The prophet Ezekiel predicted that in the last days, the Jews who had been dispersed all over the earth would come back to their land and be a nation and people once again. This return was described by Isaiah as taking place in a single day.

Isaiah 66:8: “Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Whoever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment?”

The return of the Jews to Israel was crucial to the return of the Messiah. Unless the Jews were in their land again, the Messiah could not return. The fact that the Jews were brought back to their land is a supernatural work of God and the fulfillment of prophecy, proving that the Bible is the word of God.

When Jesus returns, it will be at the Mount of Olives, outside Jerusalem. Every prophecy that will be fulfilled at that time, from all the prophets who wrote in describing this event, depends upon Israel being a nation again.

Zechariah 14:2-5: “I will gather all the nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be taken, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the population will be taken into captivity, and the rest will be left among the ruins of the city. Then the Lord will go out to fight against those nations, as he has fought in times past.”

“On that day, his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west. Half the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south.”

“You will flee through this valley, for it will reach across to Azal. Yes, you will flee as you did from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all his holy ones with him.”

When Jesus returns to earth as the conquering Messiah, Israel will be surrounded by the nations of the world under the command of the antichrist. Gathered at the Valley of Megiddo, north of Israel, a massive military force will be waiting for Jesus to arrive (see Rev. chapter 19).

Jesus will descend from heaven with His church, as described in Revelation Chapter 19. He will land on the Mount of Olives, the mountain splitting in two (Acts 1:7-12). Traveling north to Megiddo, Jesus will come face to face with the power of the antichrist, directed by the reigning king, satan (2 Corinthians 4:4). Jesus will simply speak, and all those who are ready to fight Him will be destroyed. Their bodies will spill their blood to the depth of a horse’s bridle along the entire 200-mile length of that valley (see Chapter 19).

This battle could not take place; the nations would not be surrounding Israel; the antichrist would not be waiting at Megiddo—if the Jews had not returned to their land. When Israel became a nation again on May 14, 1948, the stage was set for the soon return of Jesus. All that remains today is the removal of Jesus’ church from the earth before He pours out His wrath on this world during the Great Tribulation.

As Jesus opens the first seal on the scroll, in Revelation chapter six, the church is no longer on earth; we see the redeemed of the Lord in heaven as the Tribulation begins. In chapters four and five of Revelation, we previously saw the church in heaven. Here in chapter six, the first seal is opened in heaven, resulting in the events of the first three and one-half years of the seven-year Tribulation. The antichrist comes out on a white horse with a bow but no arrow. He comes to make peace by signing a seven-year peace treaty between Israel and many nations (Daniel 9:27).

This treaty will allow the Jews to rebuild their third temple at the Temple Mount, next to the Islamic Dome of the Rock. This is all necessary for 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12 to be fulfilled. We know today that the Temple could be rebuilt on the existing Temple Mount without disturbing the Arab holy sites.

The place the Jews will likely flee to is Jordan, where the Lord will protect the Jews from annihilation by the antichrist during the last three and one-half years of the Great Tribulation. Today, amid all the conflict in the Middle East, Jordan has remained neutral between Jews and Arabs. When the antichrist comes to take control over the land of Israel during the Tribulation, he will not be permitted to seize Jordan. Daniel 11:41: “He (the antichrist) shall also enter the Glorious Land (Israel), and many countries shall be overthrown, but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon.”

Edom, Moab, and Ammon are cities in Jordan. Inside the border of Jordan is the ancient rock city of Petra.

At the beginning of the seven years, the antichrist will quickly rise to power. He will make peace in the Middle East by a treaty that will last for seven years. It is not clear whether the actual treaty will specify seven years in the text or simply last for this period. Part of the benefit for the Jews in signing this treaty will be to allow the building of the third Temple at the Temple Mount site.

The stones for this Temple have already been cut. The young men who will be conducting the sacrifices in this new Temple are already being trained in Israel. The following statement is from: http://www.templemountfaithful.org

“In Israel, we are now living in exciting, prophetic end-times. G-d is moving in the midst of the people of Israel to redeem the people and land of Israel and to rebuild His House on Mt. Moriah in Jerusalem. We believe that Mashiach ben David is soon to come. At the same time, these are very critical times that will be followed by troubles and difficult events. One important result of these times is that the preparations for the rebuilding of the Temple and the worship in it are continuing at full speed.

The work on the architectural plans for the Third Temple continues. Preparation of the stones and other practical parts of the building also continues.

A model of the Ark of the Covenant is being prepared. It will give everyone an idea of how the original one looked. The original Ark, which was hidden in a secret room under the Temple Mount a short time before the destruction of the First Temple, will be placed in the Third Temple.

Red heifers are being raised in Israel and in the U.S.A. We are looking for the ashes of the red heifer, which were hidden by the priests prior to the destruction of the Temple. Research is being undertaken on how to prepare the ashes in our time.

In a Center in Jerusalem, musical instruments for the Levitical worship are being prepared. Many other items for the Temple worship are also being prepared.

In recent years in Israel, the education of the priests and Levites has begun so that they can fulfill their tasks in the Temple.”

The Third Temple Built At The Beginning of the Seven-Year Tribulation

“Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.” (Revelation Chapter 11:1-2)

As chapter 11 of Revelation begins, we see John, who is told to take a device and measure the third Temple. This is very exciting because here, in chapter 11, and also in 2 Thessalonians, we see clear evidence that at the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation, the Temple is going to be rebuilt at Jerusalem—on the existing Temple Mount.

In the book of 2 Thessalonians, the antichrist will go into the newly built temple where a statue of him has been erected. A command will be given that the whole world should worship him as God. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4: “The man of sin … the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”

With these preceding events in mind from the previous chapter, we begin Revelation Chapter 11, Part 2:

Remember that the book of Revelation was originally written about 90 A.D., and yet here it speaks clearly of the third Temple that will be built more than 2,000 years later in Jerusalem. At the time John is writing this description, the second Temple had already been destroyed in 70 A.D. by Titus and his Roman army.

John sees a temple that is in the future, a third Temple that will exist on the same site as the first two, but will not be built until the beginning of the seven-year Tribulation period.

It is interesting today that when we ask the Jews how they will recognize their Messiah when He comes, they say, “Oh, that’s easy. He will make peace for Israel and allow us to rebuild our Temple.”

These are the two primary attributes of the coming antichrist. At the beginning of the seven-year Tribulation, just after Jesus’ church disappears from earth, the new ruler will sign a seven-year peace agreement between Israel and the surrounding nations. Then this new ruler will permit the Jews to rebuild their third Temple on the Temple Mount grounds—right next to the Dome of the Rock.

The Battle of Armageddon

“And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him (Messiah) who sat on the horse and against His army.” (Revelation 19:19)

Here in this prophecy from Isaiah 63:1-3, we see a vivid description of the Messiah upon His return to earth at the conclusion of the seven-year Tribulation. As Jesus ascended back to heaven from the Mount of Olives, just outside of Jerusalem, after showing Himself to over 500 eyewitnesses at one time during a period of 40 days after His resurrection, He will be returning to earth at the same location.[3]

When the Messiah returns, He will be coming with His church. A great army will be gathered by the antichrist at the Valley of Megiddo, north of Jerusalem.[4]

The Valley of Megiddo, The Battle of Armageddon

John writes that when Jesus comes again, the antichrist and the leaders of the world, with their armies, will be gathered in this single location to kill Jesus and those He redeemed from the earth who are coming with Him:

Revelation 19:19: “And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him (Messiah) who sat on the horse and against His army.” [5]

Revelation 19:15: “Now out of His mouth (Messiah) goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations.”

Paul wrote that the word of God is like a sharp, double-edged sword that has the power to discern what is truly in the heart of a person. When Jesus comes to the Valley of Megiddo and finds the waiting armies of the antichrist, it will only require Jesus to speak, and every person who came to kill Jesus will be killed.

Hebrews 4:12-13: “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

It was by the words of Jesus that the entire universe was created. It is by His words that everything that exists is held together:

Psalms 33:6: “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”

Colossians 1:16-17: “Jesus created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see…Everything was created through him and for him…He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.”

Jesus will simply speak as though His words were a great double-edged sword, and all the armies of the antichrist will perish. Isaiah describes the garments of the Lord that will be stained with the blood of His enemies, as one who treads out grapes in a winepress and splashes the blood of grapes upon himself.

Isaiah 63:2: Isaiah asks the Messiah: “Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?”

Revelation 19:15: The Lord answers: “…He treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

The fulfillment of this prophecy from Isaiah 63:1-3 is in the future, as the seven-year Tribulation and the second coming of the Messiah have not yet taken place.

The war described by this prophecy is fully detailed in the Book of Revelation, Chapters 16 and 19. This is the most famous battle that will ever be fought on planet Earth. Every nation will contribute its fighting men and machinery to assist the new world leader in his assault on Jesus as He returns to earth. Megiddo is an ancient site of great strategic military importance, where some of the world’s most famous battles have taken place. The importance of this conflict cannot be overstated. The winner will have control over the entire Middle East and the world.
