Charles Ward “Chuck” Smith (June 25, 1927 – October 3, 2013) was an American pastor who founded the Calvary Chapel movement. Beginning with 25 people at Costa Mesa , California in 1965, Pastor Chuck provided an environment that birthed over 1,000 Calvary Chapel Churches in the United States and hundreds of others around the world. Calvary Chapel focusses on the teaching of God’s word, worship, and fellowship, the the basics of the Church Jesus founded in Acts 2.
