Tensions Over the Temple Mount in Israel May Lead to the Building of the Third Temple

Current tensions in Israel over the Temple Mount that began on September 13, 2015, during the Feast of Rosh Hashanah, may be a precursor to the rebuilding of the third Temple at that location.

In order for the prophecy of Daniel’s 70th week to be fulfilled, this Temple must be built in the first three years of the seven year Tribulation Period. For a long time it has been a mystery how this could be possible, given that Arab leaders would seemingly never permit such an event.

Residing on the Temple Mount today is the holy Muslim site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Just north of the Mosque, also called “The Dome of the Rock,” is an area that is the precise location of the second temple that was destroyed by Titus in 70 A.D., in direct fulfillment of Jesus prophecy that “not one stone shall be left upon another.” This will be the location of the Third Temple.

After the fourth blood moon during the month of September, 2015, many people who study Bible prophecy felt that something profound would take place. After this event passed and there was no event of any consequence, many people were perplexed. If we study the occurrences of former Tetrad’s of blood moons, we find that they often came after important events took place in Israel. On some occasions, the blood moon occurred before an profound event happened that concerned Israel.

Since September, there has been a rapid escalation of tensions between Palestinian and Israel citizens. After several Palestinian young men fled to the Temple Mount on September 13, 2015, Israel soldiers closed the Temple Mount to all traffic to and from the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The greatly infuriated many Palestinians and cause the daily attacks that are taking place all over Israel. There is concern that the “status quo” that has existed at Jerusalem, concerning the Temple Mount, will be changed by Israeli authorities. Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he is committed to maintain the same conditions in the future for the Temple Mount that have existed in the past.

It is apparent that Palestinians do not believe this declaration by the Prime Minister as Palestinian leaders have ordered attacks on Israeli citizens in response to their mistrust of Israel authorities.

I find it very interesting that all of the bloodshed in the past two weeks has been over the disposition of the Temple Mount. It leads us to believe that there very well may be a leader who will make a proposal to Arab and Israeli leaders that will guarantee peace at the Temple Mount for a period of seven years.

According to an article by Reuters on Monday, October 19, 2015 Secretary Kerry of the United States is very concerned over the Temple Mount issue:

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday Israeli and Palestinian leaders need to clarify the status of Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque compound to help end a spate of bloodshed and restore stability.

Kerry, preparing for meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Germany and then with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordan’s King Abdullah, likely in Amman, also rejected a proposal by France at the United Nations for an international observer presence at the holy site.

According to Daniel’s prophecy and the text of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, the third Temple must be a part of this peace plan. If we see any movement towards a peace treaty that would include the right of Jews to begin construction of their Third Temple, in exchange for a secure pledge by Israeli leadership that they will not attack Iran, or any other muslim nation, and guarantee uninterrupted access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, this would be a clear fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy of the 70th week.
