Called To Be Different:

Do you think that people in heaven act the way people on earth do? When you see and hear what people say, are you ever shocked by their behavior?

I have called you to be different. I am preparing you for an everlasting kingdom, where people really love each other and live righteously.

Some people have the idea that, because I saved you by grace and not by works, you can live anyway you want  and it’s okay with Me. It’s not. I lived a life of righteousness, and no one was able to accuse Me of sin because I never did sin. I know that you cannot be perfect, but could you try to be better? It matters to Me what you say and do. From My point of view, I cannot understand how You can take My salvation and claim that I am Your Lord, while living in a way that is contrary to Me.

Live your life like this: Take off the old clothes of unrighteousness and throw them into the laundry basket; open your closet, and put on new clothes of righteousness and wear them every day.

Start living today like you will live once in heaven. You are a citizen of this Holy city already. Live like one now.

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,  having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. ~Ephesians 4:17-24

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. ~1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NLT)

Jesus, I love how You shepherd me into the right path. You are right. I live in a world of sinners, and I was also once one before You forgave me and cleansed all my sins.

Sometimes I let the way of the world rub off on me, and I begin to live as they do. Help me today to make better choices with my words and the things I do. I want to live like a citizen of heaven and remember that I am just passing through here on earth.

This world is not my home, and I am not like those who do not know You. Give me an understanding heart so that I realize who I am, who my Lord is, and where I am headed. Help me live a righteous life for You, Lord, so that the world can see that I am Yours.
