Make Allowance For Faults:
You should expect that people are not going to act as they should. They will not grant you the same courtesies you give them. People will expect you to be patient with them while showing you very little understanding when you fail.
If you measure the good that you do for others by how much good is done to you, there will always be an imbalance. I have called you to a righteousness that is higher than this world. You are a citizen of heaven, an ambassador for Me on earth. I want you to always do good for people regardless of the good they do for you.
Remember that you are the sons and daughters of the Most High God. He blesses and loves the evil and the good. He is patient, kind, and good to the sinner and the saved. It is My kindness and goodness towards people who don’t know Me that brings them to repentance. Love people even when they don’t deserve it, because this is what I did for you even before you knew Me. Long before you called upon My name, I was blessing your life with many wonderful benefits. I did this because I love you, not because of what you could do for Me.
I want you to forgive because I have forgiven you. When you have the opportunity to bless someone, do it without considering whether they would ever do something good for you. You are a part of Me now, and someday you will rule over this world with Me. With great power comes great responsibility.
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons and daughters of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. ~Matthew 5:44-45 (RCR)
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. ~Colossians 3:12-13 (NLT)
Don’t you realize how patient God is being with you?…His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance. ~Romans 2:4 (TLB)
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. ~Ephesians 4:3
And he said to him, “Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.” ~Luke 19:17
You have have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth. ~Revelation 5:10
I forget, Lord Jesus, who I am, sometimes. I know that You have saved me but I am also called to reign with You someday. You have made me a member of Your royal family. I don’t often consider that my behavior should not be like this world. I should make allowances for those who are still in this world but don’t know You yet.
As You were patient and kind to me long before I knew You, help me to do the same for those who don’t know You. By my patience and kindness to these dear souls despite how they treat me, I can show Your love and grace, and perhaps soften their hearts.
Maybe by bearing with difficult people, I can open their minds to the reality of who You are—a patient and kind God who loves and offers forgiveness and eternal life to everyone.
