Participating In Evil:

I called you out from the world to be someone who is special, unique, My very own. There are things done in this world that seem innocent, while their source is demonic and from the evil one. Your enemy is a liar, and his deception is subtle and often masked in things that appear good.

When I brought My people out of Egypt, through the desert, they came into a land that was filled with people who practiced evil orchestrated by demons. They worshipped gods who were fallen angels pretending to be gods.

Joshua told the people that when they adapt themselves to the practices of the pagan nations around them and imitate their behaviors, these things will become a trap and snare that will eventually destroy their nation and lives.

Your enemy draws you into his world by subtle practices that seem innocent, but have a devious intent.

Halloween, ouija boards, tarot cards, and emblems of New Age religions come from the ancient practices of pagan nations whom I destroyed for their evil.

These practices open the evil world and permit the entrance of demonic influence and control. Beginning as innocent fun, they give permission to spirits to enter your life and eventually take over.

Be wise, and understand the deceitful works of darkness. Do not participate in their practices, but understand that the devil places these traps before you.

Choose today whom you will serve. Live as children of light in a world of darkness.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light in all goodness, righteousness, and truth, finding out what is pleasing to the Lord. ~Ephesians 5:10

But they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the LORD your God has given you. ~Joshua 23:13

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. ~Joshua 24:15

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God. ~3 John 11

Lord Jesus, in my world, people participate in Halloween as though it is harmless fun. I never imagined that there is evil behind these things and that the devil uses these snares to trap me. I don’t want to make excuses for participating in activities that are rooted in evil and will draw me away from You. I don’t want to compromise my walk with You by joining myself to evil.

I never thought of wearing a costume during a holiday as worship to a pagan god. I have read what You said to Your people through Joshua. He challenged the people to make a decision who they were going to serve. If they were going to believe in and follow the God of the Bible, they should not participate in traditions or practices that do not glorify God.

I see now that witches, zombies, monsters—characters of evil and death—have no place in the lives of those who love You, Lord. In everything that I say and do, I want to glorify You with my life. Thank You for teaching me these things so that I might not become a captive of the devil to do his will, but belong to You fully and completely.
