Plan For The Future:

Most people live their lives as if they will live forever here on the earth. They work so hard at making money and accumulating things, that they have no time to enjoy their lives. Some do this until they are old, before they retire, and then die not long afterwards. What is the point of a life like this?

This world is not your home; you are a citizen of heaven. Lay up for yourself treasures in heaven so that when you arrive there soon, crowns will be waiting for you.

Work to make a living, but do not live to make work. Your purpose in this world is to first find Me and be saved, then tell others and help them find salvation. Live your life for Me, and there will be rewards for you in heaven that will never pass away, grow old, or be destroyed.

If you make plans, make sure that you pray about everything first—because you don’t know what will happen five minutes from now, much less tomorrow or next week. Plan for your true future, not one that is quickly passing away and will be soon forgotten.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ~Matthew 6:19-21

Look here, you people who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to such and such a town, stay there a year, and open up a profitable business.” How do you know what is going to happen tomorrow? For the length of your lives is as uncertain as the morning fog—now you see it; soon it is gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we shall live and do this or that.” ~James 4:13-15 (TLB)

Lord, I want my life to be about You, and all my passions to rest upon what is ahead—not on what is here and will soon be gone. Teach me to place value on eternal things that last and not on the passing pleasures of sin.

My life is hidden in You, Jesus. All that will last forever is determined by how much I love You now and dedicate my life to Your priorities.

Remind me that my purpose is to reach people with the good news of Your salvation. You left me here on earth so that I would open my eyes and see what You see, and say the things that You have said. I want my life to count and my future to be more than a casual arrival in heaven.

When I enter Your presence, I want to fill Your face with a wide smile, because I lived my life for You and made all my days count for Your kingdom. You gave Your all for me. Help me, Lord, to give my all for You and to plan a future that is glorious, because I took my life seriously and lived it for You.
