Twenty-Five Years to the Trumpet: The Remarkable Prophetic Convergence of September 11, 2001, and the Feast of Trumpets 2026

Is the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of 9/11—The Beginning of the Feast of Trumpets at Sunset on September 11, 2026—Merely a Coincidence, or is it a Biblical Sign We Should Acknowledge?

On the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the Foal of a Donkey, the disciples of Jesus didn’t recognize or understand the significance of this event until after it took place. This is a principle of biblical prophecy that we should pay attention to. Just as Jesus scolded the leaders of Israel for not recognizing the Times and Season when He arrived as the Messiah, today many people do not recognize significant events that take place in light of the return of Jesus for His church.

The number 25 occurs in Scripture in several significant places. Understanding that nothing in Bible Prophecy is ever an accident or coincidence, what does the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9-11-2001 have to do with the Feast of Trumpets in 2026?

Examining scripture for clarity we find the folllowing:

Ezekiel’s major Temple vision came in the 25th year of the exile (Ezekiel 40:1). This is probably the strongest connection between 25 and biblical prophecy. Ezekiel is transported in vision to Israel and shown an extraordinary future Temple, its priesthood, sacrifices, land divisions, and the return of the glory of Yahweh (Ezekiel 40–48). For this reason, a “25th year” marks the beginning of one of Scripture’s most important restoration/Temple prophecies.

Twenty-five men appear prominently in Ezekiel’s judgment prophecies. Ezekiel 8:16 sees 25 men between the Temple porch and altar, facing east and worshiping the sun rather than Yahweh. Later, Ezekiel 11:1 sees 25 men associated with Jerusalem’s corrupt leadership immediately before Ezekiel announces judgment upon the city. These texts relate 25 with the Temple, apostasy, judgment, and later restoration.

The Levites originally began certain Tabernacle service at age 25. Numbers 8:24 says: “From twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting.” This gives 25 an association with preparation for sacred service.

There is another interesting chronological point. Abraham was approximately 75 years old when God called him and promised that his future descendant would be the Messiah (Genesis 12:4),. Abraham had to wait for another 25 years until he was100 before Isaac was born (Genesis 21:5). This was exactly 25 years. For us examining Scripture, prophecy, and current events, this promise by God is one of the Bible’s most important promises: the covenant promise concerning Abraham’s future descendant, Jesus, the Messiah, was followed by a 25-year period of waiting before the promised son arrived.

That is interesting today as we observe the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9-11-2001, because Isaac was the promised son through whom the covenant line would continue, leading to the Messiah (Genesis 17:19; 21:12; Galatians 3:16).

There is a genuine biblical pattern we should notice today, on the anniversary of 9-11

The Promise, waiting, then fulfillment: Abraham waited 25 years for Isaac.

Apostasy, judgment: Ezekiel saw 25 men associated with corruption at the Temple.

Judgment/exile, restoration: In the 25th year of exile, Ezekiel received the great vision of Israel’s restored Temple and the return of Yahweh’s glory.

Ezekiel 40:1 is particularly significant because Scripture intentionally assigns the number 25:

“In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity… the LORD’s hand was on me, and he brought me there.”

What comes later are eight chapters concerning Israel, the Temple, the return of God’s glory, Israel’s restored inheritance, and the remarkable concluding declaration concerning Jerusalem:

“Yahweh Is There.” (Ezekiel 48:35)

If we place September 11, 2001 beside September 11, 2026, there is an immediately significant fact:

These two facts of history are separated by exactly 25 calendar years. In examining the Feast of Trumpets taking place exactly on 9-11-2026, and the prophetic chronology, we see a significant intentional link between these two events.

On the established Jewish calendar, 1 Tishrei 5787 begins at sunset on Friday, September 11, 2026, meaning the biblical/Jewish day of the feast begins the evening of September 11, and the principal civil-calendar date is Saturday, September 12. So the observation is correct since Trumpets begins at sunset on September 11 (Jerusalem Time).

This makes the occurrence of these two events on the same day quite remarkable:

September 11, 2001 to September 11, 2026, exactly 25 years, and at sunset on that twenty-fifth anniversary, Tishrei 1, the Feast of Trumpets begins.

Does Scripture give us reason to link these two events as prophetic rather than merely chronological? If you have studied biblical prophecy from the full context of the entire Bible, and understand that every event of human history is engineered and controlled by the Great God who created the universe, nothing is an accident.

There is an interesting parallel with Ezekiel 40:1. Ezekiel specifically dates his great prophetic vision:

“In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month… Yahweh’s hand was on me, and he brought me there.” (Ezekiel 40:1)

The twenty-fifth year therefore becomes the chronological setting for Ezekiel’s extraordinary vision of Israel’s future restoration, Temple, worship, land, and ultimately the return of the glory of Yahweh (Ezekiel 40–48).

Another feature of September 11, 2026, that is considerably more relevant prophetically than the number 25 itself: Trumpets. Leviticus 23:23–25 establishes the appointed time:

“Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the children of Israel, saying, “In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a solemn rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.”’” (The Feast of Trumpets)

Numbers 29:1 similarly describes it as: “a day of blowing of trumpets.”

And the New Testament repeatedly associates the gathering and resurrection of believers with a trumpet:

“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17)

Paul writes:

“For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:52)

There are three separate observations here, and keeping them distinct makes the argument stronger.

  • First, September 11, 2026 is exactly the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
  • Second, at sunset on that anniversary begins 1 Tishrei 5787, the Feast of Trumpets.
  • Third, Scripture explicitly connects trumpet imagery with the resurrection and catching away of believers.

Those are objective observations. These facts are particularly important because Jesus commanded believers to watch current events in light of the prophecies written for the return of Jesus for His church.

  • 9/11/2001
  • 25 complete years
  • 9/11/2026 at sunset
  • Feast of Trumpets begins
  • 1 Tishrei 5787

The number 25 has significant biblical associations with waiting, Temple service, judgment, and restoration, particularly Abraham’s approximately 25-year wait from the promise to Isaac’s birth and Ezekiel receiving his great restoration/Temple vision in the twenty-fifth year.

This characterizes September 11, 2026, as a remarkably significant event worthy of watching in context with Jesus’ promise to return for His church, and Paul’s clear teaching that Jesus will return to the outer atmosphere of earth to catch away His church before He begins His wrath in Revelation chapter 6.
