320: Micah 4:1-8

365 Prophecies: Prophecy 320

In the “latter days,” the Messiah’s kingdom will be established on the earth above all other kingdoms; and all the nations will come to hear Him and walk in His ways. All people will dwell together in peace and safety—the implements of war turned instead to instruments of industry. Every sickness and disease will be healed, and all the outcasts of Israel will be united as one people.

Old Testament Prediction:

Micah 4:1-8 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the LORD’S house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, And no one shall make them afraid; For the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken. For all people walk each in the name of his god, But we will walk in the name of the LORD our God Forever and ever. “In that day,” says the LORD, “I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast And those whom I have afflicted; I will make the lame a remnant, And the outcast a strong nation; So the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on, even forever. And you, O tower of the flock, The stronghold of the daughter of Zion, To you shall it come, Even the former dominion shall come, The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.”

New Testament Fulfillment:

Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”

Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come…”

Revelation 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Application:

Micah’s prophecy in chapter 4:1-8 is remarkable indeed: The prediction and promise of the Messiah’s Kingdom on the earth. This kingdom will be established on the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills—meaning that Jesus’ kingdom will be one of absolute power and authority. No one will subvert or rebel against His authority, as He will rule with absolute sovereignty.

All the people from the nations of the world will travel to Jerusalem to hear Jesus speak and be taught by Him. Imagine a Bible study with Jesus as the teacher, while millions are gathered before Him to learn and be taught.

The rule of law—God’s law—will come flowing from Jerusalem. There will be no higher authority, or right of appeal to any greater authority other than Jesus, as He rules over the world from Jerusalem. Have you ever wondered why a country as small and seemingly insignificant as Israel has captured the constant attention of the world? Someday, the world will be ruled by Jesus from Jerusalem, in Israel.

Under Jesus’ rulership, the nations of the world will no longer go to war and kill each other. All the implements of war and the massive defense budgets of today will be converted into tools of blessing for mankind. Amazing and incredible food will be produced, and the whole world will be filled to overflowing, with enough to eat every day. All the wonderful blessings that the earth can produce for the benefit of people will be produced by the nations—not war. Every person will have their own home, fruit trees, and right to live in peace. No one will ever be afraid of anything ever again.

The lame and the sick will walk and be whole. Jesus will heal all disease and sickness, and those people and nations who are willing and obedient to His rule of righteousness will not die.

Finally, all Jews who have been persecuted and scattered all over the earth will be united as one people in Israel. Never again will God’s people be seen as outcasts or unwanted.

Jesus’ rule as the Messiah in this new kingdom will last for one thousand years; and it will be perfect and complete, making every dream a reality. The Lord will bring total joy and satisfaction for every person who lives in this kingdom and obeys His law.

This is the promise of Micah’s prophecy of the Messiah that we see fulfilled in the very near future by Jesus, as described by the book of Revelation, chapters 11, 12, and 20.
