Walk Worthy
If you understand what it cost Me to give you eternal life, there will be a sense of gratitude that will permeate your life. Some people don’t realize what I have rescued them from, and therefore their life does not reflect this knowledge.
Those who understand who I am and how much I have done to make their eternal life possible realize what has happened because of the salvation I brought to the world. For these people, the way they live is important. They understand the responsibility that comes with accepting My death for their sins, and they live their lives as one who appreciates what has been given.
If there is a callousness to your walk with Me, perhaps it is because you have yet to understand what has taken place. I left heaven for you. I took away all your sins. I suffered the judgement you deserved. I rescued you from hell and gave you eternal life. If you can understand these things and still live only for yourself, salvation has not come to you. One of the most important signs of true salvation is a changed life.
Walk worthy of the calling I gave you. Live as the child of the greatest King in the universe. Understand who you are, and be responsible in how you speak and what you do.
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. ~Ephesians 4:1-6
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. ~Romans 12:1-2
Now that you have been raised to new life with Jesus, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where He sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Jesus, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
For this reason, put to death the old sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is really an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You once also did these things when your life was still part of this world. Now is the time to get rid of anger, violence, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other any longer, for you have taken off your old sinful nature and all its bad deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn more about your Creator and become like him. ~Colossians 3:1-10 (RCR)
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the great sacrifice You made for me. You are right, Lord. If I am truly saved and belong to You, I should want to live a righteous life for You. This is reasonable.
Thank You for placing me into a glorious new life. My family here on earth is often flawed. Though I love them, many times they are imperfect and incomplete. Help me to look beyond this physical world and see the family that is growing in heaven every day.
There are new people entering their rest, whom I will soon meet. They will be closer and dearer to me than anyone I have known here on earth. None of my heavenly family will get sick, or die. All of us will live together forever, and our joy will never end.
Help me today, Lord, to start living like a citizen of heaven. Let my thoughts and words be clean and righteous. Remind me, in my actions, to do things that are good, loving, and honorable. Make me of one mind with all those who also love You. Remind me of my responsibility to show the world that I am Yours by how I live and speak.
