Proving that God exists is really a very easy task. All we must do is take evidence that already exists and is in plain view and understand that it is evidence.
The Universe Proves That God Exists
The atheist will tell you that the universe has a naturalistic explanation for its existence. It created itself, or a prior universe is responsible for our universe. Here’s the problem: These assertions cannot be proven scientifically.
Here is what science does prove: The universe exists because of intelligence, not happenstance. The events necessary for the universe to commence are not possible by any natural process. When we examine the events that took place in less than one zeptosecond of the universe we find that extreme control was exercised over the processes that took place.
What should have resulted from the universe, as it existed at the beginning, if we remove the extreme control that took place, is a universe of extreme chaos that would have collapsed back upon itself or no life would ever have existed anywhere. You will have to read the many other articles I have written on this subject in order to understand this reality.
Here we are living in the universe that God made—for the express purpose of showing us that He exists—and we deny that it proves anything. How quaint it is that what is so obvious, is not obvious to those who are not really looking.
The Bible Proves That God Exists
Let us imagine a Being who has no beginning. If we try to stretch our minds back manifold trillions of years to understand how long God has existed, we can never get there. He simply did not start. If we take our mind back an infinite duration and imagine what God must know, it is not hard to envision that He easily knows how to create a universe like ours.
We already realize that in our present universe that is 13.799 billion years old, there may be other advanced civilizations somewhere in the universe that are billions of years further along than humans. It is not hard to imagine that they already have interstellar travel, have cured all diseases, and likely can live forever. These civilizations may be very close to having the technology to create universes themselves.
Why then is it so hard—so terrible to imagine—that a Being who has lived forever, could make all that exits? Its much easier to imagine this Being exists than to accept all this happened by accident.
The difficulty with this idea is not that such a Being could exist, but that the being that most critics imagine, is a moral Being who demands moral perfection of humans, and well, this is just too far. Human beings like doing what they like to do and they do not want anyone telling them how to live. Isn’t this the very heart of rebellion, a rejection of any authority that stifles human will?
This Being I am describing has pierced our world and made communication with us. I will not bore you with the specifics in this short article but let me say that the structure of the Bible is widely understood by many as much more than it appears on the surface. Even the Hebrew language manifests characteristics that are other worldly and may be the language of eternity itself.
The 66 books of the Bible which make up the Hebrew and Greek scriptures have multiple levels of information and technology that are built into the text which are transcendent time, space, and matter. Most people who read the Bible only see the stories that they don’t understand and have no idea what they are actually seeing. I have devoted nearly 45 years to studying the text and I realize that I have only begun to understand what these 66 books really mean.

My point is that this Eternal Being with the power and knowledge to make our universe and all life, sent us a written communication that tells us everything that we need to know about Him. Very few take the time, and have the desire to really understand what is being communicated, so they disqualify the Bible as nothing more that Bronze Age myths.
This much I do know: the Bible proves the existence of the only True and Living God.
The Person Called Jesus, The Christ, Proves That God Exists
Within the text of these 66 books I have just described, starting with the first line of the first paragraph, of the first book of the Bible, Jesus is introduced to us as the Creator. Most people think that Jesus began in the New Testament, but this is not true. The first line of Genesis 1:1, introduces us to Jesus in the Old Testament. Virtually every page of the Old Testament was written for the purpose of preparing us for the arrival of Jesus in the New Testament.
Most of the world does not believe this, nor take the time to understand that this is true. Nevertheless, the Eternal Being of Jesus Christ came into the world as a human being, 2,000 year ago, with the intention of demonstrating that God exists.
In these three simple principles, God is easily proven, but impossibly believed. God intended that the world’s intellectuals would never find Him by their intellect. Read the first chapter of 1 Corinthians. “God has chosen the foolish things to confound the wise.”
You want to know whether God really exits? You will never know if you listen to the critics and scoffers of this world. You will have to do something that is extreme and rare for a human being; open your heart and mind and start wanting to know if God exists with every fiber of your being. If you do this, you will find Him.
I know this because I began this journey in 1975. I began without any knowledge, nor religious training. I just wanted to know the truth and I didn’t listen to anyone who said I couldn’t know if God exists. I always believed that if a universe like this exists then there had to be a Being of infinite intelligence behind it. Nothing else makes any sense. The universe is the most technologically advanced machine in existence. Technical and high functioning machines are not possible except by intelligence. It was intelligence that I found in the construction of the universe and this led me to the God of the Bible, and ultimately to Jesus as the Creator of all that exists.
I hope you make your own journey and not let anyone stop you from finding the truth. He is here and anyone can know Him, if they want to know Him with every fiber of their being. Anything less and you will not find the truth.

Just because there may (or not) be evidence for a Creator, there is no good evidence that that Creator is the ancient Canaanite deity, Yahweh. Yahweh could not pass a sixth grade science quiz.

Gary, it is because you have very little knowledge about the Bible that you consistently make incorrect observations. It is clear that your lack of knowledge has contributed greatly to your errors in determining that God does not exist. Although I have an extensive library of scientific facts that are found in the Bible that were not known to any scientist at the time they were written in the Bible, I will present just a few to you here. Perhaps these will help you understand that Yahweh knows everything about the universe because He created it.
It would be good if you actually studied the subjects that you claim to be an expert in before you embarrass yourself. This way we could have a truly intellectual discussion about God and science.
Scientific Knowledge Of The Bible
One of the most stunning proofs for the existence of God is found in the Bible. How is it possible that mere men who penned the words of Hebrew and Greek scriptures could have intimate knowledge of the operation of the universe and the earth itself? The Bible claims that an infinite and eternal intelligence communicated knowledge to certain men who set themselves apart to receive this communication. The results of this conveyance of information is revealed in various places throughout the Bible.
We are astounded to learn that many of the facts of science that are known today were recorded in the pages of the Bible hundreds of years before any man knew or understood these principles. The Bible is full of specific and accurate statements about the laws of physics regarding:
The nature of our solar system
The nature of the earth
The life forms on planet earth
The Beginning of the Universe
In May 1964, Dr. Arno Penzias and Dr. Robert Wilson discovered Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation that proved conclusively that the universe had a sudden and instantaneous beginning.1
The first verse of the Bible speaks of the beginning of Time, Space, and Matter instantaneously by the direct creation of God:
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning (Time) God created the heavens (Space) and the earth (Matter).
Notice that time, space, and matter are in the correct order that they should be.
Number of stars
When the Bible was written, there were no telescopes to determine the number of stars that exist in the universe. During the earlier history of mankind, the total number of stars that could be seen with the naked eye were no more than 3-4,000. Yet, Jeremiah the prophet wrote 2,700 years ago that the actual number is so great, that they cannot be numbered.
Jeremiah 33:22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered.
It is impossible that this simple prophet could have known that there are an immense number of stars in the universe, without the aid of a telescope. Where did he learn this? Who told him that the multitude of celestial hosts were too great to number?
Recent discoveries through the use of powerful observational instruments at Keck Observatory in Hawaii, have revealed that small dim stars known as red dwarfs are in far greater numbers than previously believed. This added ability to see so many more stars than was previously possible has boosted the estimated number of stars in the known universe by three hundred percent to about 300 Sextillion stars or three hundred thousand trillion.2
The Sun follows a circuit
Three thousand years ago, the writer of Psalm 19 described the Sun as following a circuit or circular course through the universe.
Psalms 19:4-6 He has set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, 5 And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. 6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
Three thousand years ago, scientists believed that the sun rotated around the earth. They had no idea that the opposite was true—the earth was in fact part of system of planets in which the sun was at the center. During the earlier history of mankind, the concept of our sun moving through a universe of other stars and planets in a circuit was incomprehensible. The sun was first spoken of as the center of the solar system by the Greek Aristarchus in the third century. It was not until the 17th century when Copernicus invented the telescope, that he was able to observe other planets passing between earth and the sun.3
God told us, in His word, that the sun moved through the universe in a circuit, thousands of years before any man knew this fact.
Today, through the use of powerful telescopes, we know that the sun is part of an enormous spiral galaxy called the Milky Way. The sun moves in a circuit or circular course through the universe at speeds of more than 251 kilometers per second or 561,471.009 miles per hour.4 It will take our solar system 225-230 million years to complete one circuit or orbit through the Milky Way Galaxy.5
How did David know these facts 3,000 years ago when he wrote Psalms 19:4-6? Jesus identifies David as a prophet who was given advanced knowledge of details otherwise unknown to men (Mt. 22:43, Mk. 12:36, Lk. 20:42). David also accurately predicted the entire death and crucifixion of Jesus in Psalm 22 almost 1,000 years before Jesus was born. The Bible claims that God gave transcendent knowledge of the heavens, the earth, and Himself, to certain individuals—by His Spirit.

The amazing power of the Living God enables Him to speak to men who have set themselves apart—to be used by Him. These men wrote the words of the Bible under the inspiration of the Spirit of God, and recording the specific details which He wanted to communicate. It is logical that if there is a Being who has the technology and power to create this vast and complex universe, He is certainly able to cause certain men to record the words that He desires to communicate to us and preserve these words over time.
The Earth is a sphere
From the time that Greek Mathematician, Pythagoras first proposed in the 6th century B.C., that the earth was a sphere, many scientists and scholars held the spherical earth theory.6 According to author Stephen Jay Gould:
“There never was a period of ‘flat earth darkness’ among scholars (regardless of how the public at large may have conceptualized our planet both then and now). Greek knowledge of sphericity never faded, and all major medieval scholars accepted the Earth’s roundness as an established fact of cosmology.”7
300 years before Jesus was born, the actual first proof that the earth was a sphere was given by Eratosthenes who measured the circumference of the Earth.8
The Greek philosophers, Hipparchus and Aristotle, 200 years before Jesus was born—both reached the same conclusion—the earth was really a sphere.9
This is all very interesting since the Bible recorded the fact that the earth was a “sphere” nearly 2,800 years ago. This is more than 100 years before the Greek Mathematician Pythagoras proposed that the earth was a sphere. In fact—it is likely that Pythagoras first learned that the earth was a sphere from reading the Hebrew scriptures which were known to many of the early philosophers of that period. It is from the text of the prophet Isaiah that the world first learned that the earth is a “circle.”
Isaiah 40:22 It is He who sits above the sphere of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
Isaiah described earth’s true nature under the direction of the Holy Spirit more than a century before any scientist developed this concept. The original Hebrew word that Isaiah used for circle is “khug,” which could be translated as circle or sphere.
Earth hangs in empty space by gravity
For much of the earth’s early history, it was believed that our planet rested upon Atlas or Hercules. The Hindus said that the earth sat upon a giant elephant or a turtle.
It was this belief by Hindus that noted Atheist Bertrand Russell once compared the Christian belief in God as also illogical—based on the claim that God has no first cause.
“If everything must have a cause, then God must have a cause. If there can be anything without a cause, it may just as well be the world as God, so that there cannot be any validity in that argument. It is exactly of the same nature as the Hindu’s view, that the world rested upon an elephant and the elephant rested upon a tortoise; and when they said, ‘How about the tortoise?’ the Indian said, ‘Suppose we change the subject.”10
Of course we know today that this argument is fundamentally flawed since scientists fully stipulate that the universe had a beginning. Scientist also believe presently that matter is eternal—with no first cause.11 Therefore, the concept of a person who is eternal with no first cause should not be that difficult to comprehend, unless of course it is only living being which scientists cannot conceive of as eternal. Something which is eternal has no need of a first cause. By the fact of His eternal existence, God must of necessity—exist uncaused and Himself be the first cause of all things which have a beginning.
The concept of earth floating freely in empty space was a completely unknown and unrealistic idea to all ancient societies. Still, in the oldest book of the Bible, Job provides an incredible piece of scientific information about what actually holds the earth in space.
Job 26:7 He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.
Not a single person on the earth during the time of Job, had any idea that the earth was suspended by gravity over empty space. It was impossible that Job could have known this by himself. God told Job this fact, and he recorded it for all mankind in the Hebrew scriptures. The problem is that most of the intellectual and highly educated men and women of the world, pay no attention to the Bible.
God placed scientific, mathematical and astronomical facts about the earth and the universe in the Bible so that when they were discovered, it would be known that this information came from an intelligence outside of earth, even time and space themselves.
The Universe Is Finite, Not Eternal
Some 2,500 years before the beginning of modern science, those who studied the heavens, imagined that the universe must have been here forever. Before any man knew that the universe had a stunning beginning, David wrote in the Psalms that the universe will “grow old like a garment.”
I said, “O my God… Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 26 They will perish, but You will endure; Yes, they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will change them, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will have no end. —Psalms 102:24-27
David describes the universe with a beginning and an end. Information that was impossible for him to know at the time he wrote this Psalm—some 3,000 years ago.
The Universe Is “Stretched Out”
The prophet Isaiah describes the universe as “stretched out,” by God upon its creation—a term used by scientists today in describing how the galaxies, stars, and planets are expanding—with space itself growing.
I have made the earth, And created man on it. I—My hands—stretched out the heavens, And all their host I have commanded. —Isaiah 45:12
How could a Hebrew prophet from Israel know that the universe was expanding (stretched out) since its beginning? This would require knowledge of physics and cosmology—which clearly, neither Isaiah nor any other man had knowledge of 2,700 years ago when he wrote these words.
The Atom
A scientific discovery that has only been known in the last 100 years is the atomic structure of the atom. All matter in the universe is made up of invisible materials consisting of atoms which have smaller internal components called protons, neutrons, and electrons. Within these microscopic parts of the atom are even smaller and completely invisible components called quarks, pions, and gluons.
Almost 2,000 years before scientists discovered the atom and its subatomic components, the Bible contained a verse of scripture that says that “all the things that we can see are made up of things that are invisible.”
Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
If the Bible was written only by men, how does it contain information that no man knew at the time the books of the Bible were written? How did Paul know about the invisible properties of the atom, almost 2,000 years before scientists discovered them?
Pathways through the seas
In 1855, a man by the name of Matthew Fontaine Maury, published a book regarding his discovery of the currents within the oceans of the world. In Maury’s book, he wrote that if ships would use these “passageways in the seas,” they could greatly increase their speed through which they traveled from land to land across the oceans. Today, Maury is referred to as “the father of oceanography” and “the pathfinder of the seas.”12
Knowledge of these ocean currents that act as rivers through the seas is widely known and utilized today. Once a ship is placed within these paths in the sea, they are moved along at a much greater pace, using less fuel and time.
Nearly 3,000 years before Maury wrote his book on the pathways of the seas, the Bible contained the 8th Psalm, with verse 8 which reads:
Psalms 8:8 … the fish of the sea …That pass through the paths of the seas.
Nearly 800 years before the arrival of Jesus, the Prophet Isaiah wrote:
Isaiah 43:16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters…
At the time that Isaiah wrote this verse, no one had any knowledge of these paths through the sea; they would not be discovered for nearly 2,700 years. The only seas that were known during the time of Isaiah’s writing were the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Sea of Galilee, and the Dead Sea. None of these bodies of water had a path through them.
The Bible demonstrates over and over again that God predicted and revealed information about the earth, the heavens, and the events of the future through His word. He did this so that we would know that He is the Author of the Bible, and that there is a Creator who exists and has made this great and magnificent universe.
It is certainly unreasonable to deny that the Bible had previously recorded these scientific facts, hundreds or thousands of years before any scientist discovered them. We know for certain that the words of these prophecies of scientific knowledge were documented on the parchment of Hebrew and Greek scriptures, long before they were known to science.
The books of the Bible which contain these amazing scientific facts have been carefully examined and scrutinized by scholars on many occasions over the past several hundred years. The very reason that the Bible exists at all today is due to its careful inspection and verification of authenticity. There is no other set of documents in antiquity that have been so closely examined and confirmed as the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts of the Old and New Testament Bible.
For example, the widely criticized Book of Isaiah was a part of the Pentateuch, which was written almost 2,300 years ago. All the words of Isaiah, including Isaiah 43:16, regarding the “paths of the seas” were in the Pentateuch version of Isaiah—2,000 years before these paths were discovered by man.
The Hydrologic Cycle
Today, we can turn on the television or click on the internet and find out what the weather will be like in our own neighborhood, or nearly anyplace on the earth, in just a few minutes. The Hydrological cycles that control the wind, the clouds, and the moisture which produce our rain, snow, and hail, were discovered about 300 years ago by the French Scientists, Parrault and Edme Mariotte. These men discovered the cycle of wind that evaporates the lakes and seas, which causes the clouds to form, that release the precipitation, which waters the earth.13
This is referred to as the “Hydrologic Cycle.” The basic principles of this phenomenon are necessary in understanding the weather patterns of the earth.
About 4,000 years before these astute French Scientists discovered this Hydrologic Cycle, the Book of Job records these words from God:
Job 36:27-28 For He draws up drops of water, Which distill as rain from the mist, 28 Which the clouds drop down And pour abundantly on man.
The Creator of the earth told us about the Hydrologic Cycle—four Millennia before any man knew that it existed.
Even Solomon wrote 3,000 years ago:
Ecclesiastes 1:6-7 The wind goes toward the south, And turns around to the north; The wind whirls about continually, And comes again on its circuit. 7 All the rivers run into the sea, Yet the sea is not full; To the place from which the rivers come, There they return again.
Seems to me that Yahweh knew facts about the universe long before any man knew these things. Perhaps you should pay more attention to the Book you so often scoff at
