Not There Yet
There is a process that I take you through, where changes will happen over time. Some people imagine that when they decide to follow Me, I will change them at that moment and everything will be different. For some people, this is true; for most, it is not. First, you will notice a new sense of hope. The world will not seem nearly as frightening and uncertain. There will be a confidence that comes over you. Daily fears of what will happen will begin to fade.
I will place My thoughts in your mind and give you a new direction. You will see the world differently and gain understanding for why people act and speak in the ways they do.
As time goes by, you will see that you are a new creation; the old things will pass away, and everything will become new.
Remember, you are on a journey that will take your whole life to complete. You are not yet where you’re going to be; it’s going to take time. Be patient with yourself and others. No matter how many times you fail, I will never leave you or forsake you. I will always forgive and restore you. Trust in Me with all of your heart and delight yourself in Me, and I will give you an incredible life.
I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. ~Philippians 3:12-14 (NLT)
Don’t let people spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies; their wrong and shallow answers built on men’s thoughts and ideas, instead of upon what Jesus has said. For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you are complete when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Jesus. ~Colossians 2:8-10 (RCR)
Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. ~Philippians 1:6
Lord, You know how many times I fail and fall. I don’t understand myself and the reasons I do the things I do. I say words to people that I regret, and sometimes it seems like I am never going to change.
I hear Your voice and appreciate Your encouragement when You promise to never leave me. Thank You for the love You give me, even when I am at my worst.
Thank You for the forgiveness I have every day and Your promise to keep working in my life, regardless of my mistakes.
Help me to be more patient with myself and with those who give me a hard time. They don’t understand what I am going through, and they can’t see what has happened to my heart since I came to know You.
Help me forget about the past and to stay focused on the future. I am looking forward to all that You have planned for my life, and seeing the process You will take me through to make me into a new person.
