There are many people in the world who are worried about many things. We see these persons on the news in a panic that we humans are destroying the planet and Global Warming is going to decimate the earth.
We hear more today about the near misses of asteroids and meteors who threaten earth, than we have in times past. Today, scientists have the capacity to detect these objects long before they threaten earth. In the background there are a great number of experts who are working on solutions to prevent earth from being struck by one of these celestial bodies.
When I was a kid in school, every week in the 60’s we had an emergency drill where a nuclear attack was simulated. We took cover under our desk with our hands folded over the back of our neck. How this would have prevented anyone from being incinerated by a nuclear explosion, we never knew.
The world is filled with threats and people who are worried about man’s impact on the planet and often warn us about the harm we are causing.
It is important to understand that the universe and the earth, as well as all human life, was created by God. He built into the universe precise controls that determine and regulate every tiny part of the universe to makes life possible on earth.
Perhaps one of the most extraordinary texts in the Bible is David’s description of the universe as a creation of God. In the 19th Psalm, David writes that God designed the universe to speak to us on earth of His existence. This message has gone out to every person throughout the world for all of human history. David’s intent was to eliminate all excuses that God doesn’t exist because there is no evidence.
It seems to be the goal of David to foresee those who would claim that there is no God and thereby remove from their minds, the idea that all that exists happened by natural events and God is not necessary.
The atheist will tell you today that they are part of a large body of intellectuals who are defeating the tide of religion and bringing reason to the planet. These individuals really believe that they are wiser than those who claim that God exists and stand against the tyranny of those who seek to impose their beliefs on others.
In truth, the atheist are the most uniformed persons on earth, denying even the most basic of scientific truths and the evidence of the universe itself as proof for God. What I find particularly interesting is the stunning lack of awareness by those who claim there is no God, regarding the origin and commencement of the universe.
All that exists today, began suddenly at the beginning of time, space, and matter. Prior to that singularity, there was nothing. All of the scientific evidence we do have today proves that this is true. Because this reality is such a great threat to the atheistic worldview, theoretical physicists have created mathematical models which state that other universes could exist which are responsible four our universe. There are nearly a dozen of these theories today that all have the same goal; impeach the idea that the universe began as a result of an intelligent Being.
The problem with all of these theories is that they are not based upon provable scientific evidence that demonstrates that these other universes actually do exist. These ideas exist only as theoretical mathematical computations which conclude that other universes could exist, not that they actually do.
The scientific evidence we do have today—which is provable, observable and testable—demonstrates that the universe began suddenly when nothing prior existed. There was no time, no space to put a universe in, and no matter to fill the universe. Everything began suddenly, when nothing had existed prior to that moment.
The reason that this is such a great threat to atheistic philosophy is that a finite universe that began suddenly from nothing is exactly what the first line of the first paragraph of the first book of the Bible states: “in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The Hebrew word used for created, is bara, to make from nothing.
Notice the language of Psalms 19 and how specific the text is that God created the universe for the purpose of speaking to us on earth and providing us with empirical proof that God exists:
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. ~Psalms 19:1-4 (NLT)
Compare what David wrote in Psalms 19, three thousand years ago, with what Paul wrote two thousand years ago:
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. ~Romans 1:20 (NLT)
It was God’s intent that all excuses would be impeached by His creation of the universe. You might say that you don’t believe that the Bible is true, just as you don’t believe that God exists. Of course this is the privilege of every person to believe what they want.
What no one can say, however, is that they never knew that God exists because He has not provided proof for the people of earth. If we were able to say this to Him, He would simply point to the sky with His finger and we would look up and see the universe He created.
On the day of judgement, it will be the universe that is a primary proof that God will exercise to convict those who would not believe what God said.
If the universe was not enough, God also provided a living, breathing, walking and talking representative of His existence in the form of His Son. God sent Jesus to earth to prove to us that He exists. This is also disputed by those who do not receive any evidence for God. Although God told us ahead of time—precisely what to look for in a candidate for Messiah—critics see the Hebrew prophecies as just one more false claim by Christians.
Do you see the pattern emerging? Whatever someone says to prove the existence of God, it is always denied.
Jesus told the men who had seen Him, that they were witnesses of all He had said and done.[1] He told these men that after He was raised from the dead, He would remind them of all of these things so that they could write a testimony and distribute it to the world.[2]
These men knew that Jesus had performed miracles as proof for the fulfillment of all the Hebrew prophets predicted for the Messiah; His crucifixion and resurrection, and Jesus alive for a period of 40 days.[3]
God preserved this record for the past 2,000 year and the Bible has always been the best selling book in all the history of the world.[4]
Despite this, the critic says “there is no God and no one can prove that He exists.”
A person begins to realize that we are dealing with a small group of stubborn children who refuse to acknowledge what is painfully obvious. God exists and He has left us with adequate evidence to satisfy the human mind.
Scientific Evidence For A Created Universe
Not long ago, I compiled a list of 1,978 precise physical constants that scientist have discovered in the universe which make human life on earth possible. The easiest way to think of these constants is to visualize a control board with 1,978 dials. Each is precisely set so that life can exist on earth. Change any of these dials by a tiny fraction of, 10^15 or 10^40, and all life on earth dies.[5]
In evolutionary theory, life began and continues to evolve by a process of random acts which makes billions of errors before it makes a successful action. The errors are eliminated and the successes accumulate until a cell or animal becomes fully functional.

As we find that the universe has these precise settings that cannot be altered unless we kill the earth, we must understand that evolution or any other natural process could not achieve this. The only method whereby we can achieve a precise setting the first time is by intelligence. A mind has the capacity to think about a setting, and know what will happen if this dial is set too great or too little, before it is established. Only a mind could know what the precise setting must be for all 1,978 of these dials, all at the same time.[6]
You see, unless all of these physical constants were set the first time, at their precise setting, no life would exist on earth today. These precise settings began at less than one zeptosecond at the commencement of the universe.

Even greater, these dials must be maintained over the entire course of the history of the universe, or life would not exist on earth today. If the universe was not constantly monitored by an intelligence, then global warming, meteors, or nuclear war would likely kill us all.
These things being understood, how much should we worry about the earth and whether we will all be killed suddenly by the loss of our atmosphere through global warming, and asteroid that destroys all life on earth, or a nuclear war started by mad men?
The Bible describes God as in control over every tiny detail of the universe, and this is why life on earth exists in the first place. God does not abandon us to evolution or the dangers of climate or the foolishness of man. God is sovereign and maintains control over the universe, ever microsecond.
“Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.” ~Isaiah 46:9-10 (NLT)
The Bible tells us that God caused the universe to begin, suddenly, when nothing existed before. The Bible says that God created the universe from invisible materials to make all we can see.[7] The Bible also tells us when, and precisely how the universe will end.
By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. ~Hebrews 11:3 (NLT)
Peter writes that when God has completed His current plan of allowing man time to hear the Gospel of Christ, turn from sin, and receive Him as Savior, that God will destroy the heavens and the earth and create them anew.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. ~2 Peter 3:10 (NKJV)
The “Day of the Lord,” is an Old Testament allusion to the return of the Messiah to earth the second time, to establish His righteous kingdom on earth. Jesus came the first time in fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah 61, to bring “the acceptable time of the Lord,” when anyone can be saved by trusting in the death and resurrection of the Messiah. Isaiah also wrote that there will be a second arrival of the Messiah to finish the second part of Isaiah 61, “and the time of vengeance by our God.”
When Jesus went to Nazareth and entered the Synagogue, He was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus opened the scroll to Isaiah 61 and read the first part of Isaiah’s prophecy, “the Lord has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor.. to proclaim the acceptable time of the Lord…” Jesus closed the scroll, mid-sentence in Isaiah’s prophecy and did not read the second part: “and the day of vengeance of our God.” Why? Because Jesus came the first time for salvation. He will return a second time to bring judgement to the earth.
This time of judgement and the establishment of God’s righteous kingdom on earth, is “The Day of the Lord,” that Peter describes.
Peter said that after Jesus completes the one thousand year term of His reign on earth, He will “melt the heavens and the earth with a fervent heat.”
Until the events of the seven year Tribulation are determined by God to begin, no one on earth can destroy the earth or human life. This is firmly under the control of God’s sovereignty.
It is interesting that one of the possible scenarios that scientists have proposed for the end of the universe is a massive heat death.[8] After the expansion of the universe, it will suddenly collapse back upon itself and die in this enormous heat. This is precisely what Peter describes in chapter 3, verse 10.
…the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat…
Where Are We Now?
Understanding that God has a plan that He is following for the universe and human life, when will all of these things take place and where are we presently?
The New Testament describes a period of grace when God is not judging us for our sins, but is allowing us time to change our minds, turn from our sins, and be saved. God said He will not strive with us forever (Genesis 6:3). He has appointed a time when grace will end and judgement will come. When that happens, Jesus will return a second time and bring judgement to the world.
Those who refused to obey God and turn from their sins, will be sentenced to an eternity of separation from God. Those who obeyed God’s command to repent and believe the Gospel, will be gathered together into a kingdom on earth that Jesus will rule over for 1,000 years, promised to David in the Old Testament.
God is love, but God is also Holy and He will not tolerate sin to continue on earth forever. In heaven, God’s sovereignty and words are settled forever.[9] No one disputes or rebels against what God has said because they know He tells the truth and He is righteous in all He does.
After Jesus has completed the 1,000 year kingdom on earth, He will melt the universe with a great heat death and everything will collapse back upon itself. The destruction of earth and the universe will not happen until God says that it is time for it to happen. Man cannot destroy the earth or human life, because God has a plan that He has determined and no one can change what God has planned.
During the seven year Tribulation described by the Book of Revelation, chapters 6-18, we see that the earth will be struck by Asteroid’s, and nuclear war will break out, as well as global warming will threaten the earth.
We can have great confidence in what God has said. Not one word of all the Lord has told us in the Bible has ever failed. Our planet and human life is protected by God and no plan of evil men or an outside celestial body can destroy our planet.
This truth gives those who love God great confidence and should remove all fears and doubts about the future. God is in control of everything, and man cannot supersede the plans of God.

In logic this is known as a tautology. Like saying, “I’m the greatest person in the whole world! How do I know? Because only a person exactly like me could possibly be the greatest person in the whole world.”

This is a misapplication of the term “tautology.” I am not saying the same thing twice with different words. I am saying that scientists have found that there is no naturalistic explanation for the fine-tuning of the universe by physical constants. This is because only someone with the intelligence necessary to set constants, with foreknowledge, could accomplish this feat.
The fine-tuned universe has no formal logical defects. It stands an empirical evidence for God, who created the universe by infinite intelligence and foreknowledge.
The fine-tuned constants are the reason that Hawking and Krauss created the theory of the multiverse in the first place. Unless they can prove that an infinite number of other universes exists and ours just happens to be a chance occurrence with all of these physical constants set, then there is no alternative except God. The idea of the multiverse is that if an infinite number of universes exist, it would be likely that many would have the precise number of fine-tuned constants to allow for human life.
The error of this hypothesis is that it is unprovable by any scientific method. We cannot see beyond our own universe to observe whether any other universes actually exist. All the scientific evidence we do have is conclusive that there cannot be any other universes except our own. The second error is in logic. If it is impossible for one universe to accidentally produce a perfectly fine-tuned environment for human life, it is even more impossible for an infinite number of universes to exist with this same attribute. The multiverse, if it really did exist, would only be further proof that God is necessary.
You should understand that the fine-tuning of our universe is not a theory, but actual science. You should understand that anything that is fine-tuned, cannot be a natural event. If it is not natural, it is caused. If it is caused, as with our universe, it would require an intelligence of infinite knowledge and power. God is the only reasonable answer for our universe.
David wrote 3,000 hears ago that the universe was created by God to show us that He exists and It speaks to us every day of His great power.

Paul later confirmed this text 1,000 years later, by stating that God created the universe as evidence of His existence and all of us have seen this evidence for God, so that we are without excuse.
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. You should believe that God exists and that He created the universe to give you evidence so that you could believe. You should believe in His Son, Jesus, who died for you and made eternal life possible for anyone who will believe.

I was curious by the way about where you got that thing about Jesus melting the universe in a “great heat death.” I did a quick search of it to find your post again, and you were the one and only person anywhere in Google ever to have said it. Did you make it up?

This is from the text in 2 Peter 3:10-13
Scientists state that the universe is expanding at an accelerated rate. Eventually, this expansion will be so great, that the entire universe will be ripped apart and cease to exist. The estimated time for when this will occur is about 16 billion years from now. By this time, all of the stars in the universe will have burned through their available fuel and cease to shine. The estimated time remaining for our planet is about five billion years, when our sun burns out and ceases to shine.
The Bible is very specific in describing the manner in which the universe will cease to exist:
…the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. …the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire… 2 Peter 3:10-13
This description by Peter is very similar to the theory of the “Big Rip” that many scientists use to explain a possible end to the present universe.

The thing about all the dials is a concept that many people misunderstand. It’s not necessary to assume that someone set the dials up front so that life would emerge on our tiny speck of dust. The dials fell however they did, come what may, and life like ours luckily became possible, after the fact. That is not a difficult stretch in a universe as inconceivably vast as ours. Especially if Earth is the ONLY place with life on it⏤you would think that if the dials were set that perfectly, there would be life all over the place. At least until Jesus melts it all in a great heat death.
None of your other “proofs” are any more convincing than that. You couch your stuff in pseudo-scientific terms, and then imagine that you can simply dismiss decades of math and observations by thousands of really smart, very well technologically-equipped scientists all over the world, just by saying “Nuh-uh!” So respect science or don’t⏤but don’t sit there and cherry pick little bits from the popular press that support your beliefs, and on your own little authority dismiss all the rest as heresy. And when you talk of the Big Bang as “proof” of the existence of God, recognize that you are doing pure theology couched in metaphors superficially gleaned from a layman’s scientific perspective. It is not, in any shape or form, “science.” What next, are you going to start abducting scientists and torturing them into recanting string theory? Serial killer, are you?

Thank you James for your observations. The important point that you are not addressing as you acknowledge that 1,978 fine-tuned physical constants do exist, is that no natural process, ie. evolution or random events, are capable of producing this phenomenon.

What is often overlooked is the fact that any intelligence that sets the universe up ahead of time so that the right conditions are in place for human life to exist on earth, must also know beforehand how these precise settings will affect everything that happens afterwards. It would be a bit like you or I knowing ahead of time exactly how our life will unfold and then taking steps from the beginning of our life, to ensure that we never make a single mistake.
The Being that we are describing who did preset the universe in this way, must have known what the outcome would be, before He set these physical constants.
Regarding whether or not these physical constants could occur by any other means other than intelligence, there is none. You can deny this is true and propose any scenario you like, but you will never be able to come up with an alternative scientific explanation that can offer a satisfactory alternative.
The scientists who have tried, like Hawking and Krauss, have failed. Their proposals are nothing more than mathematical hypothesis that say that other universes, perhaps an infinite number, could exist which caused our universe. These ideas are not provable science, but only exist in the theoretical.
What we can prove by the scientific evidence that we know today of the universe, is that nothing existed prior to the commencement of the universe. There was no matter, no space to place matter in, and no time to mark its duration. This happens to be precisely how the first line of the first book in the Bible describes the universe: “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The Hebrew is much more descriptive of this event because it uses a word for create that tells us that when God made the universe at the beginning, nothing existed.
Paul states in the New Testament that when God created the universe He created it from material that cannot be seen, ie. molecules.
The Old Testament describes the universe in its correct function as “spreading out.”
Isaiah described the earth as a sphere, and says that God hung the earth in empty space, ie. gravity.
All of the scientific evidence proves that what the Bible has been saying all along about the origin and function of our universe is true. It is only a matter of time before the entire scientific community will stipulate that an intelligent Being is its source. No doubt they will call Him an extra-terrestrial, and not likely the God of the Bible.

Every comment that I have made is based upon the current and known science of the universe and none of it is conjecture or speculation. It is the comments of atheists which have no basis in science that the universe exists by a natural process and then make up a process that is not provable by science, that is error.
If you want to be a truly intelligent man, the science of a Creator who made the universe to show us His existence and the fact that He loves us, is the correct response to the evidence we have today. Denial of what is know to be true, that the universe is not eternal, it came into being at a precise moment when nothing existed prior, and it expanded by a predetermined process that set the correct physical constants for human life, is the intelligent position.
