The New Testament is the proof that God exists.
Jesus repeatedly claimed to be God, then performed 40 miracles to prove it. Atheists say the New Testament is not true; the writers were not eyewitnesses. There are 203 eyewitness statements in the 260 chapters of the New Testament. The writers say they saw Jesus perform miracles and raised from the dead, with their own eyes.
Challenge an atheist to provide you with evidence the writers of the New Testament lied, the conversation is over.
There is no evidence anywhere that these men did not tell the truth.
You will often hear atheists say that the reason they don’t believe in God, is there is no evidence He exists
Jesus claimed to be God and said His miracles are the proof.
During the time that Jesus performed 40 miracles and people saw Him do these things, the Apostle John said:
“Despite all the miracles Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in him.” ~John 12:37
Jesus scolded the Pharisees who had also seen Him perform miracles that prove He is God, saying:
“You haven’t believed in me even though you have seen me.” ~John 6:36
If evidence is really the problem, as atheists claim; why is it that people in the first century who actually saw Jesus perform miracles that prove He is God, still did not believe?
- The New Testament was written by eyewitnesses
- There are 203 eyewitness statements in the New Testament
- The New Testament was written by 44 AD
- The New Testament meets every requirement for valid, historical events
- The eyewitness testimony in the New Testament meets the legal burden for valid and truthful testimony
Evidence has never been the problem. It is a heart that refuses to believe—that is the problem.

Why? The atheist doesn’t have the burden of proof.
If you believe something ridiculous, that I haven’t given evidence or argument against it doesn’t justify your holding that belief.

Thanks Bob, but you have misunderstood the premise of evidence and the need by critics to prove it is not true.
The historical evidence for Jesus, preserved in the massive extant manuscript evidence, states in 203 citations, that the writers heard Jesus claim to be God, then perform 40 miracles that proved His claim. Nine of these miracles displayed mastery over the physical laws of the universe.
If you say that these men lied, and their statements about Jesus are not true, it is your burden to provide evidence to prove the did not tell the truth.

There’s a book called the Bible in which Jesus performs miracles. Yes, I understand that. You need to show that the Bible is history. It looks like nothing more than legend and myth to me, like just about every other non-Christian religious book looks to you.
And my demand for evidence is pretty much the same as yours would be if you were challenged with the religious claims of some foreign religion—Scientology, Mormonism, Shintoism, and so on. When the Scientologist is explaining to you why their religion is correct, *they* have the burden of proof, not you. If they fail to provide a convincing argument, logic obliges you to reject their incredible claims.
“If you say that these men lied …”
The only people I hear proposing this hypothesis is Christian apologists. This isn’t my claim.
“… and their statements about Jesus are not true, it is your burden to provide evidence to prove the did not tell the truth.”
I’m not making the claim. You are. You have the burden of proof.

Robert: This is a tangent, but I thought I’d congratulate you again for allowing comments that aren’t always in line with your thinking. Many Christian sites either allow no comments or forbid any comments that are about topics more controversial than puppies and buttercups. Bravo.

Bob,
You and I will likely never agree on most things concerning God and the Bible, but you have always been cordial, reasonable, and intelligent in all your comments and presentations. I wish that all atheists were more like you, with an ability to engage with Christians, and present good arguments.
I have tried several times to write arguments at your websites, but apart from you, I have found most of the people who participate there, impossible to enter into a discussion with.
Thank you for your remarks. You are always welcome here.
