If Your Scholarly Source Cites The New Testament As Unreliable, You Need A Better Scholar

We live during a generation where people rarely obtain truthful information from reliable sources. From the beginning of the Christian Church, the reliability of the New Testament has been accepted as a foundational truth. Only in the last 100 years has the church allowed atheist and progressive scholars to interject doubt into the reliability of the New Testament narratives.

The facts prove, that there is no evidence anywhere that the things written about Jesus in the New Testament are not true. Modern critics say that the writers of the New Testament never saw Jesus, and they wrote these texts late in the first century. When challenged to provide proof that these things are true, the conversation quickly turns to ridicule and personal attacks.

Who Is Qualified To Be A Biblical Scholar?

When we present statements by the writers of the New Testament, where they said that they “saw Jesus with their own eyes,” silence and no further comments from critics are heard.

Atheists and progressive scholars cannot prove the New Testament was written by men who never saw Jesus. Why? The writers tell us, themselves, that they saw Jesus with their eyes.

  • Paul: 1 Corinthians 9:1: “Am I not an apostle? Haven’t I seen Jesus our Lord with my own eyes?
  • Peter: 1 Peter 1:16: “We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes.”
  • John: 1 John 1:1:”We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands.”

203 Eyewitness Statements About Jesus In The New Testament

Atheists and progressive scholars cannot prove the Synoptic Gospels were written late in the first century. Why? Jesus told them to immediately write their testimony, and send it to the world.

  • Jesus commanded the Apostles who saw Him, to write and tell the world about Him: Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  • The Old Testament prophets predicted that when the Messiah comes, the men who see Him, will write their testimony and send it to the world: Luke 24:46-48: “And Jesus said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ You are witnesses of all these things.
  • Jesus told John to write in a book what he saw and send it to the churches that were in Asia Minor: Revelation 1:11: “Write in a book everything you see, and send it to the seven churches in the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
  • Paul departed for Asia Minor in his first missionary journey, in 45 AD. He had with him, the written testimony from the eyewitnesses who saw and heard Jesus. Paul used their testimony to convince the people he spoke to that Jesus was the Messiah the prophets predicted. Paul said that the testimony of the eyewitnesses, the Apostles who saw Jesus, is, “The Word of God, equal to the Old Testament scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 2:13: “Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.

When Were The Gospels Written?

Why do atheist and progressive scholars contradict the texts of the New Testament? They have an agenda to convince you that there is no God, the Bible is not reliable, and no person should trust the New Testament.

  1. “there is no evidence anywhere that the things written about Jesus in the New Testament are not true.”
Experience tells us that people don’t resurrect. Might there be someone who’s witnessed a resurrection but hasn’t told the press? Sure, but that’s not the way to bet.
